2 Assembly theme this week Our school value this half term is Friendship and the theme for assemblies this week is as follows: Attendance and Punctuality At the end of the last academic year we had much to celebrate as far as attendance was concerned, with a very pleasing number of children achieving 100% attendance, 78% of children achieved 95% or higher attendance and our overall absence figure for the whole year lower than in previous years. Thank you for your continued support. Attendance and punctuality will continue to be monitored this academic year and where attendance or lateness falls below acceptable levels the Education Welfare Officer will be contacting families to offer advice and support.

3 Macmillan Cancer Support Once again your PFA will be supporting the Macmillan World s Biggest Coffee Morning, (though our event will be a coffee afternoon on Thursday 25th September at 3.15pm). Please come along and join us for coffee and a cake, after which you will have the opportunity to have a chat with class teachers at the informal open evening that will take place between 3.30 and 4.30pm. You will receive a separate letter about this today. In a change from previous years we won t be asking for donations of cakes, these will be provided by the PFA. Instead, the children can play their part in raising funds by way of a non-uniform day and wearing something green on Friday 26th September in exchange for a 50p donation to Macmillan Cancer Support. This doesn t have to be entirely green, a ribbon in the hair or green socks is fine! The children will also have the opportunity to buy a cake at break time on this Friday for 20p. We hope you can come along on the Thursday afternoon to support this fantastic cause.

Parents and Friends Association (PFA) On Tuesday the 16th September the PFA will be holding a brief, informal meeting for parents new to Holy Trinity (existing parents are welcome too) to find out more about what we do and how you can help. This meeting will be in the Reception classroom at about 3.15pm. Please come along if you think you can support us in anyway no matter how small. The PFA Committee Help! As you may remember we had a Big Art week in June when the whole school began making the resources for an ongoing display in the entrance to the school. This will be based on the book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We still need a few items for this display, so before we begin trailing around charity and discount shops we wondered if you could help. Initially, we need some old looking books i.e hard backed, leather bound, which will go on a bookcase by the front door. We also need some fake ivy. By the end of November we need any spare fake Christmas trees you may be replacing. We will need a few in all sizes. Plus any garlands/swags you may not want. This is for a wintery scene so any rolls of cotton wool type snow you are thinking of throwing away please send our way instead. If you think you can help please tell me or the office. 5 Holy Trinity Church Services Holy Trinity Church Services are now weekly on Sundays at 10.30am. Everyone welcome! Emmaus Course with Reverend Dave What is life about? Is there life after death? Is there a God? If so, what is God like? Who is Jesus? Have you ever asked yourself these questions? I am Dave Bishop, vicar of St James Church, Brownhills and Holy Trinity Church, Clayhanger and would like to invite you to a series of meetings where we discuss these questions and explore aspects of the Christian faith. The meetings are relaxed and informal and start with a mug of tea or coffee. (See dates below). Please feel free to attend, and that there is no obligation to continue if you feel that this isn t for you after 2 or 3 meetings. If you would like more information then just give me a call.
