1 ISSUE 33 WINTER 2018 PILATES NELSON in this winter issue BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS 5 YEARS!! Spring Training Studios Open Term 3 dates & fees NEWSLETTER 5 years on.. Here I stand 5 years ago, following weeks of planning, on the threshold of the Studio opening on the 12th July I remember how exciting it was to be opening Nelsons first dedicated Pilates Studio and how nerve wracking it was to be taking that step, setting up a business on my own, wondering if people would come and how would I pay the rent?! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine how it would develop and it is thanks to some of the students I started with back in Bodypower days and also the Dance Studio years who through their dedication and loyalty to their Pilates practice and being the most wonderful advocates for the studio that we stand here today with so many students doing the work every week to make significant positive change in their lives for better strength and mobility and therefore health and happiness. Now with the expansion into a fully equipped Spring Training Studio we can offer you more opportunity to develop your practice at a significantly lower cost than Private Training. This also frees up the main Studio so we can continue to develop the Mat classes. The best thing about all this change and development is that we now have a really strong and professional team with Maren, Dave and Tania, and the studio still retains its warm and welcoming friendliness and attention to detail as our community grows.
2 ISSUE 33 WINTER 2018 PILATES NELSON STUDIO NEWS The Spring Training Studios are up and running! After weeks of planning and welcoming Tania Huddart of Hearts and Bones Studio aboard, we are well underway with our first block courses of Group Reformer, Group Springboard and Group Studio in small groups of 3 and also Private Training in our now fully equipped Spring Training Rooms. We were so excited to be able to open these studios in the same premises as the Mat Studio, and thrilled so many of you have taken the opportunity to experience the effect equipment training has on our ability to extend our practice further. Spring Training enrolments for Term 3 now open Tania teaches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday pm (schedule on website) Maren will teach Saturday Group Reformer. If you are currently working with Tania on a 5 week block of training please let her know if you d like to continue for another 5 weeks beginning at the start of next term (week of the 23rd July) so we know where there are spaces to include new students. The cost for 5 weeks of Reformer or Springboard Group is $150, or Group Studio $160. If you would like to sign up for 10 weeks and pay in advance we can discount the price to $290 for Reformer/ Springboard and $310 for Group Studio. Currently there are vacancies in the Springboard groups on Tuesday at 10.30am and Wednesday at 11.30am, and in the Saturday Reformer classes. New payment details Please note that last term we formed a company, please make cheques out to Pilates Nelson Limited. Please update the new bank account number and name to your banking system for future payments Pilates Nelson Limited

I know many of you along with me will be looking forward to seeing her again. Free Class in exchange for your help On Sunday the 8th of July at pm, Tania is examining a student on their Mat training. She is looking for 6 students to be crash test dummies (kidding!) If you are able to participate in the class please contact Tania TERM 2 FINISHES ON SATURDAY 7TH JULY Term 3 DATES & FEES Term 3 Monday 23rd July - Saturday 29th Sept (10 weeks) Term fee $150, casual $20 There are no public holidays this term, so this fee applies to all classes except for Stretch class STRETCH, RELEASE & RELAX $130, CASUAL $16 *Please let me know your intentions for the new term before the end of this term, so I know where I have spaces to include new students who are waiting to begin.

The Sunday afternoon Workshop series continue to be very well attended and appreciated for useful and practical information and lots of good humour, please check out the upcoming HEALTHY LOWER BACK WORKSHOP on Sunday 22nd July with practical tips for reducing pain, information below. Healthy Lower Back Workshop Reduce your back pain Live your life Your low back, or lumbar area, serves a number of important functions for your body. These functions include structural support, movement, and protection of certain body tissues. When we stand, the lower back is functioning to support the weight of the upper body. When we bend, extend, or rotate at the waist, the lower back is involved in the movement. Learn some exercises and functional ways to move in everyday life to reduce your back pain episodes. 6 ISSUE 33 WINTER 2018 PILATES NELSON REMINDERS I really really appreciate the students who continue to bring their own hand towel to class, it may be a small action but really makes a big difference to the amount of laundry we do every week. If you bring a yoga mat to overlay the studio mat, roll your hand towel up with it and then it will always be there one less thing to remember! If you are leaving your mat at in the changing area please make sure you secure it with a tie, this is also an easy way to identify it amongst the others. **Please respect the studio policy of socks on the mats, if you prefer bare feet please invest in a yoga mat to overlay the studio mats. Please remember to let me know your intentions for the upcoming term. Thank you to you all for the work you have done this term, over the break perhaps do a little hibernating especially if you are an Earlybird or Evening class attendee, so we can all return to class refreshed and invigorated in the new term.
