4 Welcome Welcome to the Spring term of our second year! Tower Hamlets Recovery College continues to go from strength to strength. Building on previous successes, we continue to work with a fantastic selection of people, services and projects throughout the whole borough. We support recovery and wellbeing through education and our courses are available for anyone and everyone living and working in Tower Hamlets. We had a successful launch of our library last term. It is now open for drop-ins on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please feel free to come in and browse through our books, or just have a cup of tea and use the computers. The college is run by the East London Foundation Trust, working in partnership with charities from the Inspire consortium and other local organisations. Courses happen in a variety of different venues across the borough, and we want to work with as many people as possible, so that we can learn from one another s knowledge and experience. This term we have some great new courses, including Islam and Mental Health, and a workshop 1 Rob Pickard Recovery College Manager on Jinns. Both of these courses look at various aspects of the relationship between spiritual beliefs and mental health. We are still growing, and are always open to new ideas. We will continue to expand the range of courses we run in response to feedback from students and the wider community. If you have any ideas for new courses, or would like to get involved then please drop by, give us a ring, send us an , or contact us through social media. We look forward to seeing you all soon. The Recovery College Team
5 About the College What is recovery? The task is not to become normal. The task is to take up your journey of recovery and to become who you are called to be Recovery is a process, a way of life, an attitude, and way of approaching the day s challenges. It is not a perfectly linear process. At times our course is erratic and we falter, slide back and regroup again Patricia E. Deegan What is co-production?
