It may be summer, and the living may be easy for some, but many AADH members have been hard at work. In this edition you can read about two new members, three new Fellows, and four colleagues who have won awards and completed graduate school. Additionally, President Lynn Southerland reports about our annual meeting, and our members are pictured at ADHA and UOR. The talent of AADH membership is abundant - do you know a talented, future focused colleague who would The annual meeting of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene was held on July 14, 2015 at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas at the beginning of the PennWell Under One Roof conference. We had a great turn out. Premiere and American Eagle were recognized for their generous sponsorship for the current year, and Craig Dickson of PennWell was thanked for the company's continued support over many years. Seven new members from the previous year were introduced and Fellowship certificates were awarded to Kris Potts, RDH, BS, FAADH and Rhoda Kublickis, RDH, MHSc, FAADH. Two other new Fellows who were unable to attend were recognized, Jena Payne, RDH, BS, CDA, CRFDA, EDDA, MADAA, FAADH, and Lorraine Frey, RDH, LDH, BAS, COM, FAADH. The dust has settled from the excitement of the annual meeting, but the opportunities and challenges continue. The officers are listening and working hard to move the Academy forward. The Governing Council will meet online on the following Thursdays during the coming year: October 22, 2015; January 21, 2016; April 21, 2016, and July 7, Join us and become involved with this dynamic group. Currentlysheteachesthreecorecourses:DentalHygiene PracticeIandIIandEthics,JurisprudenceandPractice Management.Inadditiontoherteachingduties,shehas presentedlecturesatprofessionalconferenceslocallyand nationally.sheservesasatrusteeonthenationalboardofthehispanicdentalassociationandisthe ChairoftheCommunicationsCommittee.Additionally,shehasbeenappointedtotheMinorityAffairs AdvisoryCommitteeoftheAmericanDentalEducationAssociation.Sheisinvolvedinmanyadvocacy efforts,specificallythosewhichseektoresolveoralhealthdisparitiesseeninthehispanicpopulation. ProfessorMacriobtainedaBachelorofSciencedegreefromtheUniversityofBridgeportandaMaster ofsciencedegreeinhighereducationadministrationfrombaruchcollege.shehappilyresidesinnew YorkCitywithherthreesons.
