Seating Solutions LLC offers a wide array of clinical rehab services as well as clinical education in the field of complex rehab and seating & mobility. Sharon has specialized in the field of seating, positioning and mobility for the past 25 years. Graduating from Trinity College,Dublin, Ireland as a Physical Therapist, Sharon has experienced many aspects of the seating and mobility service delivery model. She has given over 700 presentations on seating and mobility to physical and occupational therapists, nurses and case managers worldwide. She has also been involved with the ISO wheelchair standards working group. Known to many as a dynamic and highly energetic speaker, Sharon s extensive knowledge makes her a very skilled seminar instructor.

Joana Santiago, Occupational Therapist Portugal & Ralf Maes, Physiotherapist and Marketing Manager Europe, Permobil, The Netherlands Putting the puzzle together: Understanding how a backrest and cushion must work together to ensure a healthy posture and good physiological function. Rhona Fiskin, Occupation Therapist, Invacare, UK Simon has worked as a Clinical Engineer in clinical practice for the past 20 years in the leading and world reknowned Central Remedial Clinic in Dublin. He has also held the Post of National Manager of the Assistive Technology & Specialised Seating Department in CRC Ireland, and is Founder and Director of the European Seating Symposium, He has also been appointed Senior Executive of Strategic Development and European Projects. Simon has worked in the area of Assistive Technology and Posture and Mobility, within the Disability sector for the past 20 years. As a Manager and Director Of Services he has placed education as his main focus to building strong continued development strategies in the area of Seating and Assistive Technology. Mary McCormick Mary is a Senior Occupational Therapist, working in the field of specialised seating for over 10 years. Mary qualified with a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, University of Ulster, Jordanstown, and received a Diploma in Assistive Computer Applications from University College Dublin, and a Diploma in Healthcare Management from National University of Ireland. Mary is currently undertaking joint research with Mary Mc Donagh Senior Physiotherapist, in developing an outcome measure for clients using custom moulded seating systems. Mary s main area of interest are early intervention and powered mobility. Mary is a member of the committee of the European Seating Symposium.

5 Speaker Biographies Mary McDonagh Mary McDonagh graduated from the School of Physiotherapy at University College Dublin in She joined the Physiotherapy Department in the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) in 1997, before moving to the Assistive Technology and Specialized Seating Department in the CRC in 2003 where she has worked since. Mary completed a MBA in Health Services Management in She is Co-ordinator of Training and Development in the Assistive Technology and Specialised Seating (ATSS) Department in the CRC. She is in charge of implementing the use of Outcome Measures in the ATSS Department in the CRC. Mary has presented at the European Seating Symposium in Dublin in 2009, and 2011, as well as at the Posture and Mobility Conference in the UK in Nuria Horcajada Nuria studied Physiotherapy at Oviedo University, Spain. During her studies, she got an Erasmus grant for 3 months at Linkoping University, Sweden. Just after graduation, Nuria received a post-graduate grant to work at the Royal London Hospital for 6 months (at the Neuromedical department and Orthopaedic Out patients department). During her 9 years there she treated patients with lesions derived from traffic accidents. She is currently working with Sunrise Medical as a clinical educator and product specialist for the past 6 years. Nuria conducts seminars all over Spain and Portugal about mobility and seating and positioning for children and adult patients. Mário Gomes and Rui Pisco Mario and Rui graduated in Occupational Therapy at the School of Health Alcoitão and are currently working as occupational therapists at the Center for Medicine and Rehabilitation Alcoitão, both having developed specific training and experience in the area of assistive technologies, particularly in seating systems and mobility wheelchair. They are part of the multidisciplinary team designated by Laboratory Analysis of Sitting Posture existing in the institution they represent. Mário and Rui have also presented in various workshop and seminars on this theme.

6 Speaker Biographies Cristina Vaz de Almeida Cristina Vaz de Almeida has a New Technologies applied to Education degree, specialized in communication e-learning, by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Carlos III University, Madrid (2007). She also has a post-graduation in Marketing by the Superior Institute of Management and a Law degree by the Portuguese Catholic University (1990). She is not only the coordinator of the managing service of the aid products in the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa and instructor in the ISPA for the health and literacy communication and health marketing but is also an instructor in other institutes. She is developing since 2001 a solidarity project with the Secondary School Eugenio Lima with 1100 students in Praia, Cabo Verde, collecting goods from different companies (such as clothes, food, books, equipments Currently, she is involved in some projects of Education and Training of Seating and Positioning). Joana Santiago Joana is an Occupational Therapist (OT) specializing in assistive technology (AT), with an emphasis on seating and positioning. Working as an OT since 2004, she developed a passion for AT. After working in a clinical paediatric setting, Joana worked for an elderly products and services dealer turning her focus towards improving the quality of life for the elderly population. Joana went on to help build an occupational therapy department where she worked with neurological and traumatic injuries. More recently Joana has worked for a seating and positioning dealer, where she worked with patients and managed accounts with the largest institutions and rehab centers in the southern region of the country. Rhona Fiskin Rhona is an Occupational Therapist who has been working as a clinician for the past 9 years. In 2007 Rhona joined a team of skilled Occupational Therapists and Bio engineers at WESTMARC (West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre) specialising in the assessment, prescription and provision of wheelchairs, seating and pressure care devices to patients across West Central Scotland. Most recently she was

7 Speaker Biographies the Clinical Team Lead Therapist for adult manual wheelchairs, leading a team of senior occupational therapists. Rhona has presented in-service training sessions on the role of the OT in relation to seating and positioning for both internal NHS colleagues and other external agencies referring to the wheelchair service, as well as undergraduate University students. Rhona now lives in the Netherlands and in December 2012 she joined the team at Invacare as the new clinical education specialist for Europe. Ralf Maes Ralf is Marketing Manager Europe for the past 10 years for Permobil Europe BV. He has a Physiotherapist (PT) degree since 2002 and a Bachelor degree in Marketing since 2004, with a specialty in Product Development. He worked from 2001 till 2003 for the biggest Rehab Dealer Company in Holland as a Technical Advisor with a specialty in Complex Rehab Solutions.
