2 I. COURSE AIMS To give the students the understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics principles regulating the action of drugs in general, as well as of the particular drug classes and their prototype To give the students the necessary knowledge to the rational use of drugs, i.e. to select and prescribe appropriate medications in such a way as to maximize the desirable and minimize the undesirable effects The course should prepare students to incorporate new information and the use of new drugs into their practice in the on-coming clinical courses, as well as afterwards in their independent work In line with these aims, necessary knowledge to deal with the course should be: anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pathophysiology, pathology and microbiology V./I.
