2 Greeting On the 4 th and 5 th of October 2013, the 6 th European Congress for Integrative Medicine (ECIM) will take place in Berlin. The 6 th European Congress together with the German Congress for Integrative Medicine this year will once again offer an innovative platform for physicians, researchers, sponsors and students alike to collectively work on the development of an optimum integrative health care that includes best conventional and complementary medicine. In addition to many nationally and internationally renowned colleagues in the field of integrative medicine, colleagues, scientists and experts in all fields of clinical conventional medicine, complementary medicine and whole medical systems are cordially invited. We would be delighted to welcome many young doctors, for whom special sessions will be offered throughout the congress. Integrative medicine is characterized by cooperation and connection between conventional and complementary medicine, and the already well established complementary medicine methods of Mind- Body-Medicine, Naturopathy, Acupuncture and Anthroposophic Medicine. The orientation of the congress is shaped by interdisciplinary collaboration which reaches beyond the traditional approaches of medicine. As in previous years, we expect that the Congress for Integrative Medicine will attract excellent speakers and high quality contributions, offering many opportunities for enriching exchange of knowledge and experience as well as optimal networking. Within the 2013 Congress in the vibrant city of Berlin, we will discuss the European and global future of an optimal patient care which includes both, best conventional and complementary medicine.
