2 Dear friends and colleagues It is our pleasure to invite you to join the 16th Colorectal Day. The meeting will be held at Centralværkstedet in Aarhus on the 28 April A long list of international experts within the field of colorectal surgery has been invited to describe the enormous development of the field of colorectal surgery in the past decades. They have been asked to give a perspective for the future. This Colorectal Day will be special as it is 40 years since Søren Laurberg graduated from medical school and moreover, he has now stepped down as Vice chairman of Department of Clinical Medicine and Centre Chair at Aarhus University Hospital. Five themes have been selected with focus on what has happened within the field during the last 40 years, current important scientific challenges as well as developments within the next decade. The five themes for Colorectal Day 2017 are: Surgery in patients with Ulcerative Colitis, Rectal cancer surgery, Treatment of functional disturbances, Pathology and diagnostic imaging in colorectal cancer, Development/research.
