The principles underlying the teachings at the International College of Medical Qigong (ICMQ) are the Dao (the natural way of the universe), the theory of Yin and Yang, and the relationship of heaven, earth, and man. We hope that in seeking to live through these principles, we can support and inspire our students and patients to discover and live in harmony with their true nature and utilize their talents to maintain balance in their lives. Medical knowledge exists to alleviate the pains of humanity, whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. While the ICMQ s principle purpose is to enable students to obtain the academic and clinical knowledge to be a successful practitioner, it does not stop there. The curriculum encourages the philosophy that through the healing of oneself one can understand how to heal others. 2 The International College of Medical Qigong The International College of Medical Qigong (ICMQ) is open to all health care professionals, students of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and those interested in Chinese energetic medicine. The ICMQ offers a multi-level certification program designed to teach the theory and practical application of Medical Qigong Therapy. Medical Qigong Practitioner (MQP) Medical Qigong Therapist (MQT) Master of Medical Qigong (MMQ) Doctor of Medical Qigong (DMQ) 200 hours 500 hours 1000 hours 2000 hours ICMQ programs emphasize the analytical/deductive and intuitive approaches to comprehending and utilizing Medical Qigong therapy for cultivation, regulation and clinical application. The experiential aspects of the course are well balanced with a solid theoretical foundation. 道 养 天 Our curriculum has drawn from the knowledge gathered from several of the medical 地 universities, institutes, hospitals, and clinics throughout the People¹s Republic of China. It is fashioned after the Medical Qigong College at the Hai Dian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China. The Chinese Ministry of Health honored this curriculum in 2005 as meeting the Chinese standards for academic and clinical instruction, the first time a foreign Medical Qigong curriculum has been approved by the Chinese government (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education), and its academic standards and clinical protocols have been formally accepted by a Traditional Chinese Medicine University. Dr. Bernard Shannon, DTCM, DMQ (China) Having studied for over 25 years, Dr. Bernard Shannon is an internationally recognized teacher of Medical Qigong therapy, Daoist cultivation, alchemical and mystical practices, and martial concepts. Dr. Shannon is the Executive Director of the International College of Medical Qigong. He is licensed through the People's Republic of China as a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and as a doctor of Medical Qigong. For seven years he served as the Executive Director of the International Institute of Medical Qigong, its master instructor and curriculum developer. To continue the advancement of medical qigong, he serves on the Executive Committee with the World Academic Society of Medical Qigong (China) and has served as the Chairman of the Board with the National Qigong Association (NQA). Dr. Shannon possesses an advanced comprehensive understanding of Medical Qigong theory and clinical application. His compassion and thoroughness with patients and students has made him sought after. Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, Founder International Institute of Medical Qigong He has been acknowledged by the National Qigong Association as an Advanced Clinical Therapist and a Level IV Qigong Teacher. These are the highest certifications granted by the National Qigong Association. They denote wisdom, insight, qi transmission, empowerment, and the mentoring of others in the field. Knowledgeable in alchemical and mystical practices, Dr. Shannon is the Abbot of the Temple of Peace and Virtue and an ordained Daoist priest holding 21 st generation Dragon Gate sect (Qingcheng Shan, Sichuan), 80 th generation Shang Qing sect (Mao Shan, Jiangsu), and 65 th generation Celestial Master sect (Longhu Shan, Jiangxi) linages. Also a Shifu / Sifu (Master Instructor) in Baguazhang and Yang Family Taijiquan holding certificates of instruction and lineage from associations China, Taiwan, and the United States. 2

3 Doctor of Medical Qigong Certification Program This is a 2,000-hour Doctor of Medical Qigong Therapy (DMQ) certification program. The DMQ program requires the completion of 1,000 hours beyond the MMQ certification, totaling 2,000 hours. This level is the most advanced and final stage in obtaining certification as a Doctor of Medical Qigong. Students will develop an advanced understanding of the body's energetic relationship to the physical structure, including mental and emotional disorders, as well as spiritual instigation's attributed to disease formation. The oncology program offers students an in-depth study of each cancer s energetic etiology; and how or why the energetic patterns within the human body can become influenced, corrupted, and creates metastasis. Although tailored to the treatment of cancer, the DMQ seminars offered will strengthen all aspects of one s clinical and personal practice regardless of one s clinical emphasis. Furthermore, student s clinical externship and dissertation may be tailored specifically to the student s clinical preference. This program will focus on specific Medical Qigong treatment protocols in conjunction with Medical Qigong prescription exercises and meditations utilized in the treatment of various types of specialized diseased states. "Large Uterine Submucous Fibroid" The students will be evaluated on course material by the faculty (transfer students are evaluated on an individual basis) and given oral, written and practical examinations. Upon completing the required courses and exams, extended research, clinical field studies, and a doctoral thesis, the student will be awarded a certificate as a Doctor of Daoist Medical Qigong from the International College of Medical Qigong. If the student is concurrently enrolled, upon completion the aforementioned a certificate of completion will be awarded and DMQ certificate withheld until all prerequisite training has been successfully completed. Prerequisite for certification in the Doctor of Daoist Medical Qigong program is the successful completion of the Master of Daoist Medical Qigong (MMQ) program OR with permission, concurrent enrollment.
