2 WELCOME NOTE Dear friends of SAKK, dear Madam or Sir, dear colleagues It is our pleasure to invite you to the November semi-annual meeting of SAKK to be held at the Marriott Hotel in Zurich. Please find henceforth the program of the meeting, registration details and other general information. In this year's program you will find some highlights which we would like to draw your special attention to. For the second time, the Post ESMO/EHA/ESTRO Symposium, presented by the Young Oncology Academy, chaired by Prof Miklos Pless will be held. Young oncologists of the SAKK network will present the latest research from the three renowned scientific congresses ESMO, EHA and ESTRO. For the third time, the SAKK Patient Advisory Board has organized an event for the public with speeches on the latest research topics adapted for patients, relatives and other interested persons with focus on lung cancer. For further information about the patients' forum, please consult the respective flyer. Another special highlight of this year s program is the Mini Symposium by the section pathology including a presentation by Dr. Bethany Williams, University of Leeds with the title: Digital Pathology@Leeds - Futureproofing Cancer Diagnostics and Research. Furthermore, we draw your attention to the awards ceremony with the SAKK/Astellas GU-Oncology Award, the SAKK/Celgene Life Grant, the GIST Award and the Candy-Heberlein Award. It is our special pleasure to offer a platform for the award ceremony of the Prix Galien Suisse to be held on Thursday within the framework of our semi-annual meeting. We will again have two eventful days contributing to bring progress to cancer care and we are looking forward to welcoming you in Zurich. 8 REGISTRATION Please register by November 15, Registration will be available on sakk.ch. The Marriott is in a central location, a nine minute walk from Zurich s main train station. You may also use tram N 11 (direction Auzelg) or 14 (direction Seebach) to get to the stop «Beckenhof» two minutes from the hotel. The hotel has its own parking which is for free for booth sponsors. You may also use the parking Sihlquai in in the vicinity of the hotel. 8
