Schoneboom, PhD, CRNA, FAAN, COL (Ret), USA 8:00-9:00 a.m. Complex Pain Assessment and Diagnosis (1 CE) 1. Identify assessment techniques needed to diagnose cervical, thoracic and lumbar pain. 2. Describe process of diagnosis for spinal pain. 3. Describe treatment approaches for spinal pain. 9:00-10:00 a.m. Advanced Radiological Interpretation: MRI, CT, X-Ray and Bone Scan Studies (1 CE) 1. Discuss advanced imaging procedures and views appropriate for interventional pain management. 2. Compare normal to abnormal radiological scans. 10:00-10:15 a.m. Break 10:15-10:45 a.m. Advanced Radiological Interpretation: MRI, CT, X-Ray and Bone Scan Studies (Continued) (.5 CE) 1. Discuss advanced imaging procedures and views appropriate for interventional pain management. 2. Compare normal to abnormal radiological scans. 10:45-11:45 a.m. Complications in Pain Management (1 CE) 1. Identify relevant structural anatomy, including bony, vascular, and neuro structures. 2. Describe physical signs and symptoms of complications related to fluoro procedures. 3. Describe corticosteroids and their side effects. 4. Show competency regarding the interpretation of contrast studies.

Discuss strategies rural primary care providers can apply to their practice to enhance their assessment and care for the patient with chronic pain. Working Lunch (Provided by the AANA) 12:30-1:30 p.m. Examination and Injections of Major Joints (1 CE) 1. Describe physical exam procedures for shoulder, hip, and knee joints. 2. Identify injection procedures for joints and bursa. 1:30-2:30 p.m. Roles of Psychology in Pain Management (1 CE) 1. Explain the multidisciplinary team approach to assessing and evaluating each patient. 2. Discuss what the psychologist s role is in a multidisciplinary pain center. 3. Explain the various strategies a psychologist uses in the treatment of chronic pain. Michael Kahwaji, PsyD 2:30-2:45 p.m. Break 2:45-3:45 p.m. Introduction to Radiofrequency Ablation (1 CE) 1. Define conditions amenable to ablation therapy. 2. Describe the application of various modalities to results in nerve ablation. 3:45-4:30 p.m. Panel Discussion in Business of Pain Management (.75 CE) 1. Students will describe two different business models for a CRNA pain practice. 2. Students will identify components of a pain practice including staff and police needs. 4:30-5:15 p.m. Pain Management Case Studies (.75 CE) Learner Outcome: 1.
