GDC Reg No The British Women s Society of Implant Dentistry (BWSID) is a not-for-profit association that sets out to inspire, empower and support women in the field of restorative implant dentistry. They aim to bring women at the start of their implant journey together to create tight-knit, inspiring support groups that allow women to flourish in a comfortable, non-combative environment. Each mentor group meets four times a year with an educational topic on the agenda to maintain a focus on personal development. Members can expect treatment planning, case discussion, guest speakers and hands-on restorative demonstrations that we hope will give our members added confidence and encourage them to incorporate implants into their everyday practice. Fran and Verena are setting up the Edinburgh group at Vermilion. They are inviting female dentists, who are curious about implants, to come along to a free taster event over two evenings on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd October 2018 at Vermilion Edinburgh. From the taster event the details of the four modules running through the winter will be established. The cost of the programme is 150. This exciting initiative builds on the progress made over the past five years by the Vermilion Implant Programme (VIP) which has up-skilled over 30 general dental practitioners to routinely offer single implant restoration at their own practices. GDC Reg No We are all acutely aware that we must engage in evidence based practice. However, how do we find time in our busy practice lives and indeed identify and gain access to relevant sources to help us understand how best we should act? This presentation will review the current evidence base for root canal obturation. It will look at what the evidence tells us is best practice and offer a number of practical solutions to help develop an optimal obturation protocol. Featuring video footage captured by his operating microscope camera, Will sets out to demonstrate the principals of obturation and the materials and instrumentation choices that can facilitate clinical management of endodontic cases. GDC Reg No Tom uses digital impressions exclusively for his adult orthodontic case load. Working with the 3-Shape scanner and Invisalign allows him to correct malocclusions without the use of two things patients hate about orthodontics: endless impressions and orthodontic brackets. Tom will present the evidence around digital orthodontics and share what works and what does not work with intra-oral scanning and aligners. The purpose of the study club is to bring dentists together in a supportive and comfortable environment to discuss cases and share knowledge. Verena aims to provide mentorship and support within the group and strengthen relationships within the Borders-based dental community. GDC Reg No Extraction with immediate implant and immediate provisional crown Surgery 3 at Vermilion Borders has been designed to facilitate live learning days. Combining direct observation of surgery through a window to the seminar room with close-up movie footage on the big screen, delegates can get very close to the action without being in the same room as the patient. David and Grant will treat a patient with a failing upper anterior tooth: from the planning stages featuring intra-oral scanner and CBCT, through extraction of the tooth and immediate implant placement to delivery of the immediate provisional crown. Observing Implant Surgery / Dr David Offord, Specialist in Oral Surgery, works in Kelso on Tuesdays. He is very happy to have dental colleagues come over to observe both the consultation process and implant surgery.
