Welcome The Annual Clinical Meeting brings together professional development and social opportunities for alumni, staff, students and friends of the Dental School.

2 Welcome The Annual Clinical Meeting brings together professional development and social opportunities for alumni, staff, students and friends of the Dental School. This event is the ideal occasion for you to meet up with your former classmates, make new contacts, gain CPD points and learn about current developments and innovations, as well as network with some of the leading names in dentistry. Optional guided tours of the Dental School will also be available. Over the course of the two days, 7.75 verifiable hours of continuing professional development will be available. You can meet exhibitors at our Trade Show, view poster presentations by postgraduate students and have your say at The London Hospital Dental Club Annual Business Meeting. Our annual subscription dinner will be held on Friday evening at Cinnamon Kitchen, a contemporary Indian restaurant near Liverpool Street. Lunch at Efes, a Turkish restaurant located close to the Dental School, on Saturday afternoon will bring the weekend to a close. Discounted rates, including a special early bird offer, are available - see the registration form for details. Message from your President, Dr Ganase Dharrie- Maharaj (The London, BDS, 1993): It is a great honour to serve as President of The London Hospital Dental Club and host the upcoming Meeting in February. I have chosen Positivity as my theme as there is currently an overwhelming flood of negativity surrounding the dental profession. I hope that our Meeting goes some way to turning this relentless tide around. I look forward to welcoming all alumni and encouraging students and others to attend. We have a strong line up of inspirational speakers, including a number of Old Londoners, who will hopefully leave you feeling excited about returning to work the following Monday and beyond! 7 Supporting our students Thank you to those of you who have kindly supported the Malcolm Jenkins and John Richards Travelling Scholarship Fund, the Barts and The London Alumni Association Benevolent Fund and the Barts and The London Annual Fund. Your gifts help our students to excel in their field of study. Your generosity has enabled us to support dental students with the cost of textbooks, anatomical models, accommodation and travel fares. Some of these students have no other means of financial assistance and we need you help to ensure that no student abandons their studies due to financial hardship. Kelly s story: I can t actually find the words that truly describe how much of a difference a bursary has made to my life. The feeling I experienced when I realised I could spend the next couple of weeks revising for my exams without the added stress of finances hanging over me is a true blessing. My financial worries were making it very difficult to concentrate especially because I was only weeks away from my final BDS exams and nearing the end of my university experience. The bursary came at a crucial time when I really needed serious help. Thank you so much for all your help and for giving to a fund that helps students like me. Thank you!
