2 PROGRAM BOOK WELCOME REMARKS We are pleased to welcome you to the beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia to participate in the 3rd Asia Pacific Meeting of Experts in Dermatology (APMED 2017), with the theme: New Paradigms in Dermatology Aesthetic. This time our objective will be to come together, advancing knowledge on the disease pathogenesis, discuss the available evidence based treatment, and share best practices on dermatology aesthetic management such as: atopic dermatitis, acne, seborrheic dermatitis, urticaria, and facial-aesthetic (HA Fillers and Thread Lift). Supported by 18 international speakers from Europe, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, we will cover a broad range of topics including recent updates on acne pathogenesis and diagnosis, benefits and limitations of current treatment modalities, sharing clinical best practices and guidelines from around the region, and the evolving / new paradigm of disease management. I hope this 3rd APMED provides you with the opportunity to build networking, find answers to clinical questions and share unique practice pointers from your own experience. 10 PROGRAM BOOK BANGKOK, THAILAND Associate Professor Rungsima WANITPHAKDEEDECHA Faculty Member at the Dermatosurgery Unit, Department of Dermatology, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR RUNGSIMA WANITPHAKDEEDECHA is a dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon in Bangkok, Thailand. She completed her dermatology residency at the Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, where she now serves as a faculty member of the Dermatosurgery Unit, Department of Dermatology. Associate Professor Wanitphakdeedecha completed her research fellowship training in Procedural Dermatology at the University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, USA, and Laser and Cosmetic Surgery at Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery in Washington DC, USA. She has lectured nationally and internationally on the topics of dermatologic surgery, laser technology and cosmetic procedures. She has published many book chapters and manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. Associate Professor Wanitphakdeedecha is a member of the Medical Council of Thailand, Dermatological Society of Thailand, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. 11 BIOGRAPHIES OF SPEAKERS IPOH, MALAYSIA Dr Agnes HENG President of Dermatological Society of Malaysia Consultant Dermatologist at Agnes Heng Dermatology DR AGNES HENG is a Consultant Dermatologist in private practice in Ipoh, Malaysia and is currently appointed as the President of the Dermatological Society of Malaysia. Prior to establishing her private practice, she served as the Head of the Dermatology Department at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh for 10 years. For her dedication and commitment towards improving patient care, Dr Heng received the Excellence in Service Award from the hospital in 1999 and Dr Heng completed her fellowship training in immunodermatology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA in Upon her return to Malaysia, she established the first immunofluorescence laboratory under the Ministry of Health, which supported immunofluorescence tests for all dermatology departments in the country. Dr Heng s areas of interest include cutaneous autoimmune diseases, atopic dermatitis and acne. 10

12 PROGRAM BOOK SINGAPORE Dr CHEONG Wai Kwong Director of Specialist Skin Clinic and Associates Pte Ltd, Singapore Dr CHEONG WAI KWONG received his training in Dermatology at the National Skin Centre, Singapore and underwent further training in cutaneous photobiology at the St John s Dermatology Centre in London. He has been practising dermatology since 1986 in various dermatological centres, both locally and in London before going into private practice in He is currently director of the Specialist Skin Clinic and Associates, Singapore, a group practice of dermatologists in the private sector. He is a past President of the Dermatological Society of Singapore ( ). In recent years, he has spearheaded roundtable meetings on acne, atopic dermatitis and quality skin care involving key opinion leaders in dermatology in Southeast Asian countries. More recently, he co-chaired the Asian expert forum on the diagnosis and management of seborrhoeic dermatitis in 2014 and 2015, which resulted in the publication of a consensus guide on treatment of seborrhoeic dermatitis in Asia. He has been involved in the Asia Pacific Dermatitis Leaders Summit, a regular meeting of key opinion leaders in the region and co-chaired its latest meeting in Taipei on March He is also a regular member of the Asia Pacific Acne Leaders Summit and a member of the P & G Olay Pro-X Global Dermatologist Alliance that is made up of 12 leading experts in dermatology from USA and Asia. Dr Cheong lectures extensively on acne, atopic dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis and other skin conditions like pigment disorders and the use of dermocosmetics in dermatology both locally and regionally including India and Taiwan. He is featured regularly in the media for his advice on skin care products and skin issues. He has conducted advanced acne workshops for dermatologists and general practitioners in the region including Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. 13 BIOGRAPHIES OF SPEAKERS TAICHUNG CITY, TAIWAN Dr CHIU Pin-Chi Chairman of the International Aesthetic Medical Center, China Medical University Hospital DR CHIU PIN-CHI graduated from the National Taiwan University School of Medicine and underwent post-graduate training in dermatology at the National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) at Yun-Lin. He also holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from National Taiwan University. Dr Chiu is currently the chairman of the International Aesthetic Medical Center at the China Medical University Hospital. Prior to this appointment, he chaired the NTUH Yun-Lin Branch Department of Dermatology and its Medical Aesthetic Center. He is a Council Member of the Taiwanese Dermatological Association, a Member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. He is also an Advisory Board Member for the Cosmetic Regulation, Advertisement and Health Education at the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration. He was also a member of the Asia Pacific Acne Leaders Summit 2015 expert panel, which recently published their consensus opinion on the role of dermocosmetics in acne management (JCAS, 2016). Dr Chiu is an associate reviewer of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. 12

14 PROGRAM BOOK SURABAYA, INDONESIA Dr Cita Rosita Sigit PRAKOESWA Senior Lecturer and Consultant at Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Dr Soetomo Hospital, Airlangga University DR CITA ROSITA SIGIT PRAKOESWA is a senior lecturer and consultant in dermatology and venereology at the Dr Soetomo Hospital, Airlangga University in Surabaya, Indonesia. Since 2003, she has also been affiliated with the Leprosy Division of the same hospital. She completed her studies at the Airlangga University and Dr Soetomo Hospital, where she earned her medical degree, specialist degree in dermatology and venereology, and doctorate degree in leprosy. At the Dr Soetomo Teaching Hospital, Dr Prakoeswa heads the Research and Development Board, the Allergy Immunology Division at Dermatology Venereology Department, and the Academic Medical Centre. Concurrently, she is the Secretary of the hospital s Health Research Ethical Committee, and is a member of the Health Technology Assessment Committee and Evidence-based Medicine Board. Apart from these appointments, she also serves as Secretary of the Airlangga University Planning and Development Board and is a member of the Expert Panel of Risbin Iptekdok for the Ministry of Health. Dr Prakoeswa is also the Head of the Surabaya Commissariat Allergy Immunology Study Group of the Indonesian Association Dermatology Venereology. Dr Prakoeswa s clinical research interests include leprosy, allergy-immunology and stem cell therapy, and she is currently involved in ongoing studies in collaboration with the Genome Institute Singapore and the Netherlands Leprosy Relief. She has published extensively and delivered numerous oral presentations on these topics. 15 BIOGRAPHIES OF SPEAKERS JAKARTA, INDONESIA Dr Irma Bernadette Simbolon SITOHANG Staff at the Cosmetic Dermatology Division, Department of Dermatovenereology, Universitas Indonesia DR IRMA BERNADETTE S SITOHANG is affiliated with the Cosmetic Dermatology Division, Department of Dermatovenereology at Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia. She received her medical degree from the Universitas Indonesia Faculty of Medicine and subsequently completed her residency at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dr Sitohang is presently finishing her doctorate at the same institution. A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr Sitohang is also a member of the Association of Indonesia Laser Medicine, the Association of Indonesian Dermatologists, the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI Depok), the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology and the American Acne and Rosacea Society. She has served on the organizing committees of several national and international dermatology meetings, including the Asia Pacific Acne Leader s Summit (APALS) 2015 in Bangkok, and contributed towards developing the 1st Asia Pacific consensus on the role of dermocosmetics in acne. Her research interests include acne, laser technology and cosmetic dermatology. She has published a number of papers on dermatology, particularly on the pathophysiology of acne vulgaris. Dr Sitohang has been the Editor of Media Dermatovenereologi Indonesia for more than a decade. 14

Purita (Peachy) PAZ-LAO Vice President of the Philippine Dermatological Society Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Head of the DermLaser and Phototherapy Centre at Makati Medical Center, DR MA. PURITA (PEACHY) PAZ-LAO is the Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Section head of the DermLaser and Phototherapy Center of Makati Medical Center in the Philippines. Dr Paz-Lao is currently the Vice President of the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS) where she also serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Annual Convention. Dr Paz-Lao is an international fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a member of the International Society of Dermatology, Asian Dermatology Association and Philippine Academy of Dermatologic Surgery Foundation Inc. Dr Paz-Lao is a highly regarded expert in lasers and light and dermatologic-aesthetic procedures. She was a member of the Asia Pacific Acne Leaders Summit 2015 expert panel, which recently published their consensus opinion on the role of dermocosmetics in acne management (JCAS, 2016). She was Editor-in-Chief of the Philippines handbook on Dermocosmetics which was published in Dr Paz Lao is a key opinion leader and a member of the advisory council of several pharmacological and laser companies. 17 BIOGRAPHIES OF SPEAKERS MANILA, PHILIPPINES Dr Rosalina E NADELA Immediate Past President, Philippine Dermatological Society Past President, Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS), Dermatologist, MedDERM ASIA Clinic, Laser & Surgicentre DR ROSALINA NADELA is a dermatologist practicing at the MedDERM Asia and Holistic Dermatology Clinic, both located in Manila, Philippines. Dr Nadela completed her Master s degree in Clinical Dermatology from the St John s Institute of Dermatology of the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guys and St. Thomas Hospitals in London, England. Subsequently, she received various post-graduate training in international institutions: sclerotherapy training at the Advanced Rejuvenation Center in Texas; sclerotherapy and laser surgery and under Dr Mitchell Goldman in La Jolla, California; and tumescent liposuction at the Lake Loveland Dermatology Center in Loveland, Colorado. She has also received training in cosmetic surgery, fat autograft muscle injection, cutaneous laser surgery, as well as botulinum toxin injections and fillers under the tutelage of highly renowned international experts. Dr Nadela is a Diplomate and Fellow of Philippine Dermatological Society, an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and an International Fellow of American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery. She is also a member of the International Society of Dermatology, the Philippine Medical Association and the Quezon City Medical Society. 16

18 PROGRAM BOOK BANGKOK, THAILAND Professor Kanokvalai KULTHANAN Chairperson of the Department of Dermatology, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University Secretary General of the Dermatological Society of Thailand PROFESSOR KANOKVALAI KULTHANAN is a Professor of Dermatology and is currently the Chairperson of the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine at the Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand. She received her medical degree at Mahidol University and subsequently completed specialist training in dermatology. Additionally, she underwent research fellowship training at Kyoto University and Johns Hopkins University in the field of dermatoimmunology. Professor Kulthanan is the Secretary General of the Dermatological Society of Thailand. She is a member of the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society of Thailand, the American Academy of Dermatology and the European Academy of Allergy and Immunology. Professor Kulthanan has a keen interest in cutaneous allergy and immunology and has published extensively in this area. 19 BIOGRAPHIES OF SPEAKERS MANILA, PHILIPPINES Professor Ma Teresita G GABRIEL Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, Section Head of the Department of Dermatology at the Ospital ng Parañaque Immediate Past President, Philippine Dermatological Society PROFESSOR MA TERESITA G GABRIEL graduated from the Far Eastern University in Manila and took her residency training in Dermatology at the Jose R Reyes Memorial Medical Center. Subsequently, she took a Dermatopathology Course Program at the Thomas Jefferson Medical College Philadelphia, USA, under the tutelage of Dr Bernard Ackerman. She also took a fellowship course in Dermatologic Laser Surgery at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand and underwent preceptorial training under Dr Maibach of the Contact Dermatitis Clinic at the University of California, USA. Dr Gabriel is currently the Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and the Section Head of the Department of Dermatology at the Ospital ng Parañaque. She is the President of the Parañaque Medical Society and the Psoriasis Support Group at RITM. She is also the Immediate Past President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Dermatological Society. 18

20 PROGRAM BOOK BANGKOK, THAILAND Professor Siriwan WANANUKUL Head of Department of Paediatrics, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Chulalongkorn University PROFESSOR SIRIWAN WANANUKUL is the Head of the Department of Paediatrics at the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. Professor Wananukul earned her medical degree from Chulalongkorn University and subsequently obtained board certification in both paediatrics and dermatology. An international fellow of American Academy of Dermatology, Professor Wananukul is a member of a number of national professional societies including the Royal College of Thai Paediatricians, Paediatric Society of Thailand, Dermatological Society of Thailand and Paediatric Dermatological Society of Thailand. Professor Wananukul has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of dermatology, paediatrics and paediatric dermatology. 21 BIOGRAPHIES OF SPEAKERS CHIANG MAI, THAILAND Dr Danai PRADITSUWAN Founder and Lead Physician at DIAA Clinic DR DANAI PRADITSUWAN is the founder and lead physician at DIAA Clinic. He has been a surgeon for more than 25 years and possesses a wide range of expertise in both invasive and non-invasive anti-ageing and aesthetic procedures. Dr Praditsuwan graduated from Chiang Mai University s Faculty of Medicine with a degree in orthopedics, and subsequently spent over a decade performing operations and enhancing his knowledge of the human body s complex musculoskeletal system. This experience provided Dr Praditsuwan with an in-depth understanding of the relationship between various parts of the body and face. Early in his career, as an in-house consultant at the Tao Garden Health and Wellness Resort, Dr Praditsuwan s interests shifted to the relationship between science, aesthetics and wellness, specifically relating to anti-ageing methodology. In the 1990s, Dr Praditsuwan opened a plastic surgery and aesthetics clinic in Nong Hoi, Chiang Mai, but after 20 years, finally decided to open the DIAA Clinic, where he now provides affordable, first-class aesthetic treatments and services, such as non-surgical facelifts and body contouring. Nowadays, Dr Praditsuwan s contemporary approach favours non-invasive aesthetic enhancements and anti-ageing procedures, designed to bring out the best of a person s existing features. 20

22 PROGRAM BOOK JAKARTA, INDONESIA Dr Abraham ARIMUKO Vice President of the Indonesian Dermatology and Venereology Association (PERDOSKI). Bidang III - Sosial & Kerjasama Director of Development Division - Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital Chairman of Study Group of Cosmetic Medic Dermatology (KSDKI) DR ABRAHAM ARIMUKO obtained his medical and dermato-venereologist specialist degree from the Airlangga University and completed fellowship training at the Singapore National Skin Centre. Dr Arimuko is currently the Head of Department of Dermato-Venereology at the Gatot Soebroto Central Army Hospital, where he is also the Head of Committee of Quality Improvement. In addition, he is also affiliated with various private clinics in South Jakarta. Dr Arimuko is actively involved in various professional societies. He is the Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Laser Medicine (IKLASI) and a member of the Board of Executives of the Indonesian Dermato-Venereology Association (PERDOSKI). He is also a member of the International Society of Dermatology and a committee member of the Study Group on Laser Dermatology (KSDLI). Leveraging on about three decades of clinical experience, most of which in dermatology and cosmetic medic dermatology, he also chairs the PER- DOSKI Study Group on Cosmetic Medic Dermatology (KSDKI). He is also a member of the teaching faculty at UPN Jakarta, YARSI, UKRIDA and Universitas Pelita Harapan. 23 JAKARTA, INDONESIA Dr Lilik NORAWATI Head of Department Dermatology in Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Sub-Division Cosmetic-Medic Executive Committee Member of the Dermatology-Cosmetic Study Group DR LILIK NORAWATI is a dermatologist with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She obtained her medical, and subsequently, her specialist degree in Dermatology and Venereology from the University of Indonesia. She is actively teaching as clinical lecturer in dermatology and venereology various universities in the country (YARSI, UKRIDA, Pelita Harapan University, and Pembangunan National University. She also lectures at the Hasanuddin University School of Medicine. She has published several books on skin pigmentation, particularly on the role of systemic therapy in hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation. She is also highly committed to public education and given her medical expertise in cosmeceuticals, has often been tapped as a resource person for nationwide campaigns for many global cosmeceutical brands.
