Here are some important things to remember: - Please ALWAYS arrive on time - If you MUST miss a day, let Ryan know before that day arrives - If you have an unusual ache or pain, tell Ryan immediately - Eat a SMALL meal before camp. Avoid juice really acidic juice like orange. (You will find that this will be a trial and error process) Try some different options to see what works best for you! - During colder weather months, when outside, be sure to wear layered clothing. You will get warm very quickly. A hat and gloves will be your best method of keeping warm for the first minutes each day (during the colder months). You ll be plenty sweaty by the end of each hour. - Avoid perfumes - Have FUN!! - GET SNEAKER FITTED-See section of Welcome Packet titled Sneaker Fitting - Ryan s Cell Phone Number is (401) If it s raining, we will meet indoors at Ocean Club Roller Skating Rink. (Directions below)
2 WHERE DO WE MEET EACH DAY? Camps are held Outdoors at Broad Rock Athletic Fields. Unless otherwise notified. During the winter months (most of the time, we will notify you)november-april Camps are held inside at Narragansett Ocean Club Skating Rink. Please check our website (weather icon) for more information. LOCATIONS: Broad Rock Athletic Fields (April-November) and Narragansett Ocean Club Roller Skating Rink (December-April) TRAINERS: Ryan and Danielle Bate MEETS: Monday Friday, 5:30am, Monday-Friday 6:30am,Monday Friday, 7:30am and Monday Friday 9:00am (you can only attend the camp that you register for) you cannot mix and match. (Though we are flexible, should your schedule change, please, please talk to us first before assuming that your accommodations cannot be met). PARKING: Broad Rock Athletic Fields: Please travel all the way to the furthest parking lot to park. It is located right in front of the South Kingstown Dog Park. Narragansett Ocean Club: Please park in the parking lot location in front of the building. 3 ** (Directly behind Bank Newport) *If the forecast calls for inclement weather, (during our outdoor season, or should the forecast call for significant rain) we may have to move the camp indoors to the Narragansett Ocean club for that day. Please check our website the night before camp and the morning of camp (weather icon) for a camp location update. *****Always check your s from us before going to bed or before camp in the morning. B What do I need to bring to camp each day? Unless otherwise instructed, please bring: 1) Exercise mat. 2) Weights: a set of Dumbbells (Everyone will use a different amount preferably between 3-10 lbs is usually the choice for many campers. If you are unsure, always start with a lighter weight and increase as we going along. 3) Water for drinking/* you may also want to bring a towel. SNEAKER FITTING: 4) Athletic Sneakers: It is crucial to your success in camp and in any lifestyle activity that you participate in to make sure you have proper support for your feet and your personal activity level. 4 William Bill Michonski received his Pedorthic Certification in 2005 from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He worked in the footwear industry for more than twenty years, and has provided care to everyone from extreme medical cases to professional athletes. Certified Pedorthic Clinicians are orthotic and footwear experts. They are one of the few healthcare professionals trained in the assessment of lower limb anatomy and biomechanics. Pedorthists help to alleviate pain, abnormalities and debilitating conditions of the lower limbs and feet that if left untreated could result in limited mobility. Special Camp Days to Remember Wellness Seminar: Food for Thought The Sunday after the first week of camp (SUNDAY MARCH 25 th ) we will be meeting at New Life Assembly Church for our Wellness Seminar titled Food for Thought This will take place at 3:00pm unless otherwise stated. 5 Katie McDonald is a certified Holistic Health Coach trained at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York City and is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. An experienced vegan cook and baker she also studied at National Gourmet institute for Food and Health in Manhattan. In 2009 received a certification as a raw food chef and trainer from Alissa Cohen. She obtained further training in healing by becoming a Bach Flower Remedies Practitioner. Well Versed in a wide range of dietary and wellness practices, she empowers clients to become engaged in their health. 6 First Friday of Camp We will meet at Broad Rock Athletic Fields (unless inclement weather or during the indoor season, then we will meet at Narragansett Ocean Clubplease refer to our schedule for more information regarding our outdoor and indoor seasons) to conduct fitness assessments designed to test your strength and endurance. You will record your numbers on both activities for use on the last Friday of camp. All we re looking for on this day is for you to do your best. You will need your water bottle, your mat, your weights and a towel. More fun will follow! Last day of camp On this day, we will meet at Broad Rock Athletic Fields (unless inclement weather or during the indoor season, then we will meet at Narragansett Ocean Club-please refer to our schedule for more information regarding our outdoor and indoor seasons) and we will conduct our final fitness assessments designed to test your strength and endurance. You will have your previous numbers to compare to and see all of your personal improvements! This is not a slack day simply because it s the last day of camp. 7 About Your Boot Camp Instructor: Ryan Bate - Director/Lead Instructor Ryan Bate is the owner of South County Adventure Boot Camp. An avid fitness enthusiast from an early age, Ryan has been involved in competitive sports and physical activity throughout his life. He has been successful in the Fitness Industry for the past 7 years and has experience helping individuals of all ages and physical fitness levels. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health Education from Rhode Island College. He is also a NESTA certified Adventure Boot
8 Camp instructor, and a Certified Personal trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and he is CPR Certified. Ryan is thrilled to bring Adventure Boot Camp to Rhode Island to help busy women achieve their fitness goals while also managing all other aspects of their lives.
