Curriculum alignment, scope and sequence and mapped K-12- meets all state and national standards Grade level assessments-fitness, nutrition and cognitively content based-(welnet) Offer content rich quality physical education What does quality physical education look like? - First is Program assessment-existing Curriculum-What s good, What s bad, What works or doesn t work. - Second is direction. Which way do we go? Decision: We like what we are doing but not content driven. We need to provide richer content across the curriculum that supports a physically educated student. How do we get there? Reviewed curriculum that provides rich content that can be infused to the existing program making it more dynamic, interesting, relevant, content rich and motivating for all students to want to learn the importance and significance of living a healthy, fit lifestyle. - Third is selection. We chose the Five for Life Curriculum by Focused Fitness. This program allowed our leadership team to infuse content rich material related to fitness, nutrition, anatomy, physiology and technology into our existing program. Through extensive professional development over the three year grant period, our teachers became trained in tailoring their lessons to provide extensive fitness and nutrition based content into a variety of activities.
