2 Join us at Fundamental to Advanced Echocardiography in 2015 This educational activity is intended to be a fundamental to advanced echocardiography course that highlights practical issues in echo salient to cardiovascular medicine practices in 2015, including new imaging technologies and multimodality imaging with the focus on new products and innovations and their roles in clinical practice. Participants will learn about the most current clinical and research studies, hear experts analyses of cutting-edge technical innovations, and receive guidance on optimal use of echocardiography in their clinical practices. By Attending, You Will Be Able To: Explain and apply 2D, 3D, and strain methods to quantify cardiac size and function Describe the most appropriate methods for the imaging, identification and quantification of valvular heart disease Discuss the challenges of imaging to accurately quantify aortic regurgitation, pulmonary pressures, and diastolic function Provide accurate quantification of aortic stenosis Critically appraise new valve guidelines and assess their impact on clinical practice Describe the diagnostic use of echocardiography in the identification and diagnosis of pericardial disease, constriction and tamponade, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathies, hypertrophic cardiomyopathies, and prosthetic valve dysfunction Explain techniques for performing stress echocardiography List best uses of transesophageal echocardiography Describe the role of echocardiography in screening competitive athletes Summarize use of echocardiography in critical care Who Should Attend? This activity is designed for physicians, sonographers, cardiologists, intensive care specialists, internists, and other practicing health care professionals who desire an update on the fundamentals and advancements in echocardiography. Optional ABIM Maintenance of Certification Learning Session The optional Maintenance of Certification Learning Session will feature the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) 2015 Updates in Cardiovascular Disease knowledge module. Clinical experts will lead interactive and collaborative in-depth discussions on each casebased question. Session attendees will actively participate in weighing the evidence caseby-case, discuss the options with the faculty and other participants, and identify the most appropriate answer to the ABIM questions.
