Yader Sandoval, MD is an Interventional Cardiology Fellow at the Minneapolis Heart Institute, Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Center. He received his medical degree at the Escuela Autónoma de Ciencias Médicas de Centro America in San José, Costa Rica. He trained in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center, where due to his commitment to teaching and clinical work he was selected by his residency peers for the Morris Davidman Teaching Award for outstanding teaching and patient care. He completed his Cardiology Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center and the Minneapolis Heart Institute, Abbott Northwestern Hospital where he was a Chief Cardiology Fellow. He is an investigator at the Cardiac Biomarker Trials Laboratory, Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation where his research has been focused on the use of cardiac troponin assays and his work resulted in numerous publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national meetings. He has an expertise related to the to the clinical use and laboratory/analytical aspects of cardiac troponin assays to characterize the pathobiology of acute myocardial infarction and cardiac injury. Because of this work, he was recognized as a Young Investigator Award Finalist by the American College of Cardiology at the 2016 Scientific Sessions. Dr. Sandoval has authored over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 50 national/regional abstracts including notable publications in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and The Lancet. In addition to his work with cardiac biomarkers and acute myocardial infarction, he has numerous other investigations in the field of perioperative myocardial ischemia, coronary artery disease, and percutaneous coronary revascularization. 23 / 25 Page 3 of 5
