What a wonderful year we are having. Many of you know that I was fearful of losing the teens this year since our meeting space is under construction. Well that did not happen at all. THANK GOD!!! The new Youth Ministry center should be completed by January. When we are ready to move in I will need help, so there will be an opportunity for LINCS service hours for your teen. In the meantime, we are still meeting weekly, having fun and having great meaningful discussions. The FAITH DEBATES have been phenomenal!! I have to thank Father Loomis, who thought of this and who facilitates each one. The next one is on Jan. 15th! So encourage your teen to come! By the time you read this we will be a week or so away from the WINTER LOCK IN. This is one of the BEST events we have each year. Truly a night of fun and games!! (with prayer and great talks mixed in.) If your son or daughter has not signed up yet, PLEASE submit their registration ASAP(form attached). It would really help us to know how many teens we are expecting. Oh! One last thing, I need help with chaperoning throughout the night AND preparation of breakfast in the morning. If YOU are able to assist, please or call me. Finally, I need to PLEAD WITH YOU TO SIGN UP YOUR CHILD NOW FOR THE STEUBENVILLE YOUTH CONFERENCE. This conference is so popular that it fills up quickly. I must register our group in the first few days of January and at that time I MUST make a commitment (including a financial commitment) for a certain number of participants. Right now, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY TEENS ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND. We had a great turn out last year (25 teens in attendance) and each one came back having had a fantastic time. I understand that the group will be participating in a variety of activities throughout the night at St. Bede. The group will meet at St. Bede (cafeteria) at 8pm, the students are expected to remain in the building for the entire night. Departure is expected at 8am on Tuesday, Dec. 30 th. I understand that my child will be supervised by Maritza Kelly, Parish Youth Minister and several other adult volunteers.. I give permission for my child s picture to be taken as part of the Youth Ministry programs and to be used in any promotion of parish and/ or youth activities including the parish/youth ministry website. I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and its officers, employees, and volunteer staff from any liability. I accept responsibility for any medical expenses as a result of any such injury sustained on this trip. 7 sign up now!!! UPCOMING EVENTS NCYC - NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE - NOVEMBER 19-21, 2015 The Archdiocese will be offering a trip again. We will travel by bus to Indianapolis. Estimated cost: $580 pp. Youth groups and individual teens may register through the Archdiocese. More information is forthcoming. Check out the promo video: WORLD YOUTH DAY 2016 The Archdiocesan pilgrimage to World Youth Day in 2016 is already gearing up! We hope to send a large group of youth to celebrate with Pope Francis in Krakow, Poland and we need your help in getting the word out. > Regional Kairos n Juniors and seniors in high schools who do not have the chance to attend Kairos at their school are invited to the PhilMont Regional Kairos. Led by Fr. Stephen Delacy, these retreats are 4 days and 3 nights, helping high school aged kids grow deeper in their faith while forming lifelong friendships. n Two dates are available: December 26-29, 2014 at Malvern Retreat House and February 12-15, 2015 at Mother Boniface Spirituality Center. Registration for either retreat is due November 30. The cost is $60 and you can register online. Theology of the Body Theology of the Body for High School Students: This program, open to all teens in level 9-12, will be offered on five consecutive Thursday nights from January 29 through February 26th from 7:00-8:30pm at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Community in the social Hall. Theology of the Body Parents Info Night (High School): Get information about the Theology of the Body for High School on December 4th at 7:00pm. 8 communion calls MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREAT SAINTS ALIVE RETREAT for 6-8th graders are a joint initiative of the Office for Vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood and the Office for Catechetical Formation s Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Saturday, February 28 from 12-5pm at Archbishop Wood HS Space is limited and registration opens this week! The cost this year is...free due to a generous grant received by the Vocations Office.
