10 St. teresa + st. William + regional P.S.R 7th and 8th Grade Students You are Invited to Join! The St. Teresa Youth Group s mission is to create a community for 7th and 8th graders that is Spiritual, Social, and Service oriented. Events throughout the year are intended to be fun and social, but the group's intent is to also foster spirituality and a willingness to serve. We want to foster recognition that these three things do not exist on islands of their own. Rather, service and spirituality are fun and social when done with friends! Important facts to know: This group is open to all 7th and 8th grade parishioners of St. Teresa of Avila and St. William parishes. Meetings/events are held monthly during the school year unless otherwise noted in the church bulletins or parish calendar. Meetings may include a service oriented project. Meeting times will vary. We hold one fundraiser, the annual Flower Sale ( April 27, 2019), where all members and their parents are required to sell flowers, assist with set up leading up to the sale and work the sale day. With everyone s effort this is a well organized and fun event. The funds raised from the sale allow us to be active in our community, our parishes, and cover expenses for our meetings, service projects and a LOCK IN i n the spring!!! (We alternate every other year with a trip to Camp Ernst so members can experience both) We have a lot planned and want you to be a part of the fun! Plan to attend these two upcoming events to get the year started: Summer meeting: Tentatively Tuesday July 31, 2018 from 5:00-9:00 pm at Philipps Swim Club (Youth Group will pay for non-members to get in and pizza dinner and dessert will be provided. First Event: Volunteering for St. Teresa Festival - Family Day on Sunday August 5th (Sign Up Genius will be sent out). So you think you want to join? There is no cost to join but we do ask that each member sign a pledge along with parent consent and a medical form must be on file by September 14, (see attached for both documents) To be considered an active member, we ask that you attend a minimum of 2 meetings during the school year, participate in at least 1 service project, and have full student and parent participation in the flower sale: actively selling flowers, assisting during setup days, AND the day of the sale in April. Please note: to save time and paper, communications are done almost exclusively through and event RSVP / sign ups are coordinated through online sources. AND - new members receive a really cool Youth Group t-shirt! If you have more questions and are interested in being a part of St. Teresa Youth Group please contact Shannon Darnell at or Maria Williams at x117. You may also Youth Group at youthgroup@stteresa-avila.org. PARENTS: We also welcome you to get involved by helping to coordinate activities and chaperone meetings and events - you just need to be a Virtus compliant volunteer with background check. Please consider actively assisting this year!
