The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts who meet at the church on Tuesday evenings have given the Kiwanis Club permission to use Fellowship Hall on that night Feb: Meetings of the Finance Committee and Membership Committee, 2:00 p.m., Hampton Inn and Suites Board Room Mar: Board of Directors meeting, after the Weekly Meeting Mar: Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, Scottsburg United Methodist Church, 7-10 a.m Mar: Indiana District Kiwanis Mid-Year Meeting, Carmel, IN, and 3 Wishes Gala to raise money for the 3 Wishes Campaign. Old Business: 1. Lexington Elementary School is collecting plastic bottle caps, such as soft drinks, laundry detergent, prescriptions, etc., for a picnic table. Please bring the caps to the Kiwanis Weekly Meeting and tell your friends and family about this project. People may also drop off the bottle caps at Goin Postal or the Visitors Commission office. Since this project requires no expenditure of funds and little time, I hope that everyone will participate! With this project LES has been able to obtain 3 "Buddy Benches".! 7
8 2. Kiwanis Parent Comfort Cart: Kiwanis Clubs from all over Indiana donate items for the Riley Childrens Hospital Kiwanis Parent Comfort Cart. Kiwanis volunteers push the cart through the halls of Riley Childrens Hospital with items parents and guardians may need while there with their kids undergoing treatment. The Parent Comfort Cart is one of the most popular and appreciated items Kiwanis provide to families to make their stay at Riley more comfortable. 3. Donated items must be travel size. Some of the items needed are: Fleece blankets Chap stick/lip balm. Men s and women s deodorant. Mouthwash Hairbrushes Game books, word search, crossword puzzle books Candy Bars (full size) Snickers most popular, Hersheys, Milky Way, etc. Soft fuzzy footies or slippers Q-tips Razors (disposable) Hair conditioner Toothbrushes (adult size) Body Facial Nylon Lofahs,/Poufs Chewing gum (3 packs to a package type) Mints, i.e., Altoids, Tic Tacs Hair scrunchies Feminine products Nail clippers and/or tweezers (individual packages) New Business: Birthdays and Anniversaries: Happy Birthday to: Oletha Reel Erick Mays Kelly Dulaney Donna Craig 7 Dec 8 Dec 12 Dec 17 Dec Happy Anniversary to: Kiwanis Anniversaries: Monte Roth 11 Dec years of service Ross St. Clair 19 Dec years of service Darryl Smith 1 Dec years of service! 8
9 Brag for a Buck: For a mere dollar, you may talk about anything of your choice. Did your favorite team win? Did your children or grandchildren do something special? Are there any special celebrations in your family? You can even tell a joke or a funny story. Next Weekly Meeting: 5 Jan 2017, 6:30 pm, at The Hill Bar and Grill Speaker: TBD Members of the Scottsburg Kiwanis Club are encouraged to bring their spouse, other family members and friends to the weekly meetings. Dinner is $12 for members. First time guests are free. There are a dozen dinner choices, plus side items and deserts. Next Board of Directors Meeting: Thursday, 26 Jan 2017, immediately after the Weekly Meeting at The Hill Bar and Grill Board meetings are for officers, directors and committee chairs.
