1 MUZZLE REPORT January 2019 Message From the Board Of Directors I wish everyone a Happy New Year and best wishes for a safe and prosperous May all your shots be in the black, may all your groups be tight, may all your clay targets break, and may all your arrows fly true. I also want to thank the entire membership for all the support you provided our club over the past year. Without your volunteer efforts and your willingness to play and shoot by the rules we would not have the wonderful club and facility we are blessed with! -Board President Dave Dotterrer Membership Renewals Don t Delay If you were a member prior to July 1, 2018, and have not yet renewed your membership for 2019, your gate code will no longer work after December 31, Membership Dues remain the same as last year: $85 - General $60 - Six volunteer hours in 2018 $ Service related disabled Vet/Purple Heart/Active Service You do not have to attend an orientation to renew for Just mail in your updated application along with your dues. You may download an application from the website, or pick one up from the mailbox located by the door to the clubhouse, or at Ashland BiMart. Please make checks payable to AGAC. Completed applications and checks should be mailed to AGAC, P O Box 953, Ashland OR We will mail you a new membership card once your application has been processed. Summary of December General Meeting Club membership is currently 519. We ended last year with 475 members. We heard a progress report on development of the Five Stand Shotgun Range and construction of the Five Stand Shooting Stands. Several members have volunteered to serve on a Facilities Maintenance Committee. We are still looking for a leader for that committee. Anyone interested, please contact a board member. The next general/board meeting will be held January 8th at 6:30 pm. 2 Paper Newsletters Yes or No? In looking for ways to reduce costs, the Board has discussed the possibility of doing away with mailing a paper newsletter each month, or asking members who wish to receive a paper newsletter to pay a small stipend to help cover the cost. We always have between 120 and 150 members wishing to receive their newsletter in paper form. This costs the club over $1,800 per year. We currently the newsletter electronically to over 350 members and we post the newsletter on the website each month, so the newsletter is available to the entire membership. Eliminating a paper newsletter or charging $10 to $15 per year for the paper newsletter would result in a substantial savings for our small club. However, before we would actually eliminate mailing newsletters or start charging for them, we want to hear from the membership. Please submit your input or suggestions to garypeterson@ashlandhome.net or mail him at AGAC, PO Box 953, Ashland OR If You Are Concerned As we have seen over the years, local, state and federal agencies are working hard to strip the populace of their constitutionally-guaranteed rights. Our governor and her minions are already packaging new legislation to outright ban semi-automatic rifles like the AK and the AR; a new law is targeting magazine capacity, and may well make felons of folks who are just exercising their Second Amendment rights. I strongly urge all members of the Ashland Gun and Archery Club to contact the Oregon Firearms Federation and get informed! If we fail to block anti-gun legislation, you might become a felon if you own an AR rifle, or a Browning Hi-Power pistol. 3 Organized Shoots Jefferson State Regulators Cowboy Action Shooting : The Jefferson State Regulators match is held every third Saturday of the month at 10:00 am, rain or shine, at the Ashland Gun & Archery Club. The match generally runs for about four hours. The pistol and 50 yard bays will be closed during this period, but the rifle ranges may remain open depending on the event. If you have questions, please col.gilliam@charter.net Long Range Shooting: Long Range Shooting is held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 9:00 am to noon, weather permitting. Normal range activities will resume at noon on those days.
