Most notably it was the year we merged with Greenwich Mind, securing a sustainable future for the valuable services provided in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. 16 Wellbeing and Resilience Services Mindkit & Youth Wellbeing The Mindkit youth wellbeing project supported the emotional wellbeing and resilience of young people aged years old and came to an end during the year. Over three years, Mindkit delivered 418 sessions to more than 18,200 young people in schools, colleges and youth centres through 151 young volunteer trainers with their own experiences of mental health and emotional difficulties. The evaluation of the project by Goldsmiths College, University of London, found that the positive impact on young people s understanding of mental health and tools to support wellbeing was significant. Our work supporting the wellbeing of children and young people hasn t ended with Mindkit, however, and we were pleased to be selected to pilot a key element of Mind s Whole Schools Approach to emotional wellbeing, focused on Enabling Youth Voice. 16

20 Dementia Services Bromley MindCare Dementia Centres MindCare s dementia support centres in St Paul s Cray and Beckenham offer clients a varied and fulfilling day, engaging them in roles and activities to recover or maintain life skills and boost selfesteem, stimulate memory and improve physical health. Our fortnightly MindCare Dementia Café in Beckenham offers people with dementia and their carers a place to socialise with others as well as a gentle exercise session. Cynthia and Jeff s Story Cynthia cares for her husband Jeff, who has dementia, whilst she juggles full time work. She had tried two other dementia centres before she came to the MindCare Dementia Centre. When Jeff comes home his whole manner and the way he responds to me when he returns is amazing. He is like the Jeff that I used to know. The centre has made a tremendous difference to our lives. I feel I have my husband back which means the world to me. 20

Flexible care packages include regular daytime and evening respite, extended overnight or weekend respite and programmes to support active lifestyles. Pat s Story Pat has cared for her husband, who has Parkinson s disease and dementia, for several years. He could not be left alone, and couldn t communicate or feed himself. Pat was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted and at her wit s end. I remember looking out of the window and wondering what it would be like to go on a bus again, said Pat. My husband s regular MindCare Dementia Support Worker is the most empathetic and sympathetic person you could meet, and is as skilled as I am at reading his moods and needs through his facial expression. Her visits are something I can tell my husband looks forward to. This gives me real peace of mind and stops me feeling guilty about going out. 22
