AWARDING EYE ON FYE BUCKET LIST FYE ADVOCATE APRIL 8 TH 5:00pm BLUE RIDGE HALL CONFRENCE ROOM It s April and this month First Year Experiences will be hosting our annual EYE on FYE Celebration! We will give out awards and recognition for our winners and refreshments will be served! Also come out for the awarding of WCU Bucket List and the FYE Advocate Awards! Also! Final Exams are right around the corner! Don t procrastinate on those exam papers and don t wait the week before to study! If needed take the time to get a tutor or form a study group. Below are some resources to help you get through your final exam. Writing and Learning Commons provides tutors for classes and writing coaches. Don t Forget Hunter Library has plenty of research material that you could use! Having issues with your computer or trying to understand software? Head to IT downstairs in the library for help!

2 Want to be in an issue of the Message Board? A new section called CUB s Corner IS NOW OPEN! This section is all about YOU! Show off your creativity! We need new cubs to submit their own works such as an original poem, video, drawing/ comic strip, short story, almost anything! There will also be a lucky cub featured in one week s issue for getting involved on campus. Whether it s through volunteer work, club/organization, or an event on campus! Simply send in a picture or short video and a short description of yourself and what you re doing to stay involved on campus! Need advice? Cub s Corner will also feature an Ask Mitten s column! All submission types are to be sent to cubsaskmittens@yahoo.com! MESSAGE 2 EVENTS Your journey ---- Your goals 2014 Tuck River Cleanup! Saturday April 12 th Registration at 11:00am at the UC Lawn by the Clock Tower! Each year the Tuck River Cleanup is the Nation's LARGEST single day river cleanup volunteers converge to clean 27 miles of river and annually remove 3-5 tons of garbage!

3 Spring Literary Festival April 1-4 Mark your calendars now for WCU's Twelfth Annual Spring Literary Festival! It will feature Colum McCann, Luis Alberto Urrea, Ron Rash, George Singleton, Linda Hogan, Jill McCorkle, Charles F. Price, Ron Houchin, David Cecelski, Donna Glee Williams, and the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet with student poets. Les Misérables Opening Night is Thursday April 3rd at 7:30pm at the Bardo Arts Center Shows are performed until is Sunday April 6 th at 3:00pm at the BAC The worldwide stage and film sensation comes to WCU for four performances only. Based on Victor Hugo s epic 1862 novel, the Tony-award-winning musical includes some of the most-loved songs of the last century, including "I Dreamed A Dream," "On My Own," and "Bring Him Home." Distinguished Professor Terrence Mann, who played Javert in the original Broadway cast in 1987, directs this production. TICKETS: $20 adults $15 faculty/staff/seniors $10 students (($7 in advance)

4 WCU s Controlled Chaos Film Festival! On May 2 nd WCU s Film and Television Production Program will be hosting their sixth annual Controlled Chaos Film Festival! The event will be held at the Bardo Arts Center at 7:00pm. It is open to WCU students and the rest of the public. Early Bird tickets can be purchased for $8.00 at the Stage and Screen office starting March 31. Tickets at the door will be $ So come, have fun, and see some student films! Inspirational Choir AA Reunion Concert On Sunday April 13 th, WCU s Inspirational Choir will be performing their Reunion Concert at 10:00am at Coulter s Recital Hall! Come out to support and sing!
