1 DALYELLUP PS NEWSLETTER Edition 4 22nd March 2018 Principals News Easter Vacation With Easter falling during the school term this year, government schools will be closed on the following days. Friday 30th March - Good Friday Monday 2nd April - Easter Monday Tuesday 3rd April - Easter Tuesday School will re-open at the normal time on Wednesday 4th April. Interschool Swimming Carnival Last Friday, 16th March, saw Dalyellup P.S. host the Interschool Swimming Carnival. I would like to congratulate all competitors, who displayed excellent effort, attitude and sportsmanship all day. Dalyellup P.S, came second in both the Open and Handicap Shields an outstanding achievement. Thank you to the many family members who, as spectators, supported our team. Special thanks to staff and volunteers who did a wonderful job running this event, with special mention to Mr. Nicholson, who, as usual, organised an outstanding carnival for us all to enjoy.

2 EDITION 4 Page 2 Principals News continued... Year 6 Camp Our Year 6 students and staff headed off to Mornington Mills this morning for our annual Year 6 camp. This camp will run over 3 days and will expose children to a number of activities requiring resilience and teamwork to complete. Children are also required to work with students and staff they may not normally encounter, building friendships and extending networks. Camp is always a highlight for our Year 6 students and I am sure that this year will be no exception. Our 2019 camp will be held at the same location at about the same time, and we are hoping for around the same cost (approximately $250). Parents of current Year 5 students should start planning for 12 months time, especially from a financial perspective. If parents believe that payment may be an issue for next year s camp, please come and see me to arrange a payment plan ANZAC service Dalyellup Primary School s ANZAC Day service will be held at 9:15am on Friday 13th April. The service will be held on the oval facing the steps (weather permitting) and will be for Year 1 to Year 6 students. Kindergarten and Pre Primary students are permitted to attend in the company of their parents/carers and must be supervised by these people for the duration of the service. Our student leaders, under the supervision of Mr. Snelling and Miss. Hall, will be running this service. As in previous years, students are permitted to bring a small bunch of flowers to lay during the ceremony. 4 EDITION 4 Page 4 YR 6 Science Excursion On Wednesday, 14th March all year six students were lucky enough to participate in the Science on the Road day at Dalyellup College. This was a fantastic opportunity for the students' to get a valuable insight into the world of high school science. There were many fun, engaging activities that they all were able to have a go at. There was everything from chemical reaction activities and electrical circuits, to dissecting living sheep s hearts and lungs, which caused a number of students to feel squeamish. These students are very fortunate to have these kinds of opportunities at Dalyellup Primary and I would like to thank and acknowledge the hard work of the science department at Dalyellup College and my colleagues, for all of their time and effort in making these events possible. 5 Page 5 DALYELLUP PS NEWSLETTER COLES SPORTS FOR SCHOOL Our school is now registered for the Coles Sports for School tokens. There is a box in the school office, Coles Centrepoint, Coles South Bunbury and Coles Bunbury Forum. So get collecting as many as we can for our school to obtain some amazing equipment. Parking at school Whilst we understand the frustration of parking around the school, can you please NOT park in any of the numbered parking bays. These are assigned to Teachers and EA s. As I am sure you are aware, they need to be in the class by a certain time ready for our students to arrive. If there parking bay is taken by a parent/guardian, then this is not possible. EAA services include individual programs, community and professional education, information, referral, consultancy as well as personal development activities such as camps, workshops and weekend programs that help individuals grow through shared experience and peer support. The funds you help raise will be put towards our vital services. Pens, Keyring, Pin on Ribbon, Wristbands and Shoelaces are available for purchase at the front office from $2 - $8. We are noticing a number of students do not have up to date personal information. For example: address, mobile/phone contacts for emergencies and emergency contact names/details. Please ensure that your child's details are current in case of an emergency.
