1 LUNCH MEETING From Te CO-PRESIDENTS Monday, November 20, 2017 Thank you for your participation in our annual flea market. Betty Scott reported that the Gross proceeds were $12,154 less $533 in expenses for NET income of $11,621. Thirty-one (31) volunteers reported that they worked 830 hours for the Flea Market this year. I want to share a note from Cynthia Vollmer who s a founding member of the market, and works her magic every year to produce this well organized market. Susan Weber, the owner of Susan s Christmas Shop in Santa Fe for almost 40 years will talk about Nativities Around the World. We received many compliments throughout the weekend, including one shopper who said she was rushing home to place our sale date on next year s calendar! We always work hard, but this year there such a feeling and spirit of teamwork, and I am filled with gratitude for your excellent work, creativity and ability to bring about the miracle again and again. More information call Barbara Edelman, The Santa Fe Woman s Club Board of Directors has approved a proposal to provide opportunities for our members to display and sell their creative work before and after our monthly meetings. This gives our talented members an opportunity to share their art and crafts to allow for an increased understanding of art as communication. HOLIDAY HOME TOUR from Chris Durlak Please mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Holiday Home Tour on Dec. 9. Tickets will be available at our November luncheon meeting for $25 each, so please bring your checkbooks! Your support of this wonderful project is greatly appreciated, and please take as many tickets as you can to share with your families and friends. Proceeds from the Holiday Home Tour go for our young women's scholarship Fund. You are sure to enjoy the wide variety of homes on the tour this year. by Dolores Whitaker A survey of the current membership identified ten artists who are willing to participate. Each artist will select a date and set up a table with their art. Our monthly newsletter will give information about each artist before they display their work. Displayed at our next meeting will be watercolors of individual flowers painted by Dolores Whitaker, who trained at the Art Student League in New York City. She will also show paintings that will not be for sale. A donation will be made to our Club if sales are made. The future plan for the Committee is to set up an Art Market (at our Clubhouse) to allow for all of our artists to participate in a fund raiser for the Santa Fe Woman s Club with invited community artists as well. 3 LIBRARY NEWS from Sara Ghizzoni Vista Grande Public Library Book Sale Thursday Nov 9th thru Saturday 11 th. See attached flyer. From Susan Sheldon The Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library have a book sale at the La Farge Library, 1730 Llano Street, Saturday, November 18th, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. One day only! Open to the public. $1.00 per hardcover, $.50 per softcover or 3/$1.00. How can you beat these prices? Get your holiday reading material at this time! Then for your holiday shopping pleasure there is a Holiday Book Sale at the Main L i b r a r y, Saturday, December 2nd, 10:00 to 5:00. This time the books and media are in the best condition for gift giving, some are holiday-themed, and you will possibly find something for yourself. This same day there will be work by local artist, Lisa Bemis, for sale. She has graciously offered income from her work be given to the Friends. You'll be helping close out the year for the Friends fundraising efforts, with proceeds going to support the Santa Fe Public Library in! PLEASE HELP SFWC is looking for volunteers to form a Nominating Committee to find member volunteers to serve on the 2019 SFWC Board of Directors. Elections of new officers will be held at the March meeting and the existing SFWC officers will finish their two year terms May. Please contact any current board member if you can help with this important committee. This is an opportunity to contribute to the future of our club. Volunteer request for the May Annual Baby Shower. We need an organizing committee and chairperson. It is time to contact the other Santa Fe organizations who create and donate hand made baby items. Donated items are distributed by the La Familia Medical Center staff to new mothers and babies during. Encourage all your friends and families to check out these Friends activities. 5 SANTA FE RECORDER SOCIETY The Santa Fe Recorder Society directed by John O'Donnell, played a beautiful concert at the October 16th lunch. The other musicians are Scott August, Donna O'Donnell, Jon Alexander, James Werbel, and David Krueger. Thanks for giving us the chance to play, and for the food - which was greatly appreciated. We hope that we can consider some more musical entertainment for you in the future, John O'Connell. JAZZ ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON The was really rocking to the Jazz Quartet who played on Sunday, October 29th. The group features Brian Bennett on piano, Steve Duke on saxophone, Scott Rosenthal on bass, and John Trentacosta on drums. Page 5 of 6
