1 Pennsylvania Link to Aging and Disability Resources Berks-Lancaster-Lebanon Service Area Lebanon County Partners Network cross-training Meeting December 4, 2015 Meeting Minutes The volunteers who prepared the outstanding breakfast and Harriet Kutz welcomed the Link partners meeting attendees to the beautifully decorated meeting room at Calvary Church, 1330 Pennsylvania Avenue, Lebanon on Friday, December 4, 2015 for a complimentary pre-meeting breakfast. Brian Long, Link coordinator, convened the meeting at 8:30 and thanked Pastor Mark Kutz, Harriet and the kitchen volunteers for hosting the meeting. Brian asked Harriet for welcome remarks and to deliver the safety briefing 1. There were no additions, deletions or changes to the DRAFT minutes for November, and the minutes were accepted. FNAL minutes will be posted at the Website. The meeting attendees introduced themselves: William Ames, Lebanon County Commissioner Carolyn Dingman, VisionCorps 1 The safety briefing consists of informing the meeting participants of the locations (and directions to) restroom facilities as well as directing participants to the exits and exit routes in the event of an emergency. Madoline Sawyer, Calvary Church Joe Schwartz, citizen / guest Brooke Smith, Compeer of Lebanon County Robin Unangst, Multiple Sclerosis Society Lauren Updegrove, Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services Brian reviewed the standing bullet items on the agenda, encouraging everyone to consult the Website to find out about events and posts that may be relevant to Link partners activities and functions. 3 He reminded everyone to sign the sign-in sheets. He also asked the participants to consider being (or suggesting) crosstraining program presenters for July, October or December of He also asked everyone to suggest meeting sites for the five open dates in Brian asked those attending to share ( , text or phone him) ideas for projects that might improve the lives of these populations: Persons age 60 and older, Persons with a disability, Veterans, Family members and Caregivers. II. Cross-training program Cross-training presenter, Kathleen Dugan, vice president, Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center (SARCC) of Lebanon and Schuykill Counties, held everyone s attention during her presentation which centered on the definitions, statistics and startling aspects of sexual assault. She used a activity which focused on affirming or dispelling some of the myths involving Elder Sexual Abuse. She responded to numerous questions during the December Meeting Minutes, accepted January 8, 2016 Page 3 of 5

4 Q&A period and provided take-aways. Harriet Kutz was the day s second presenter and her passions shone expressively during her pecha kucha narrating her involvement with Practical Compassion. Practical Compassion is a Lebanon County initiative that is Making a difference in Haiti's future Now through the Practical Compassion of food, education, housing, medical care and jobs. A copy of Harriet s presentation will be posted at the Website. III. New Business Brian asked the meeting participants for suggestions the Link partners might undertake in He suggested a possible undertaking that might deal with first responder communication and interactions with persons with autism. NEXT MEETING. The January 8, 2016 meeting will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman Street, Lebanon, PA Sean Curran, Curran Estate Law, is the cross-training presenter. 5 Several of the partners shared upcoming events; Joe Kozak asked the partners to consider contacting him with possibilities for conducting W.R.A.P. 2 facilitation. There were a few surprises and prizes shared just before adjournment. Brian wished everyone a joyous, safe and satisfying holiday season. Adjournment - The meeting was adjourned at 9:48 am. Following the meeting s adjournment, more than a few meeting participants engaged in collaborative conversation as they remained for several minutes to renew or initiatate relationships.
