1 Pennsylvania Link to Aging and Disability Resources Berks-Lancaster-Lebanon Service Area Lancaster County Link Partner Network cross-training Meeting Minutes December 15, 2016 Minutes accepted date: January 19, 2017 A special treat was in store for the meeting attendees as they entered the meeting room. The Singing Mayor, Chuck Mummert, performed a medley of holiday-themed songs; the participants smiles and happy faces approved as they found seats to network with others. I. Call to order Link coordinator, Brian Long, called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm in the beautifully re-modeled Cultural Center at the Willow Valley Communities, 900 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA Brian led the applause for The Singing Mayor and thanked him and his wife, Linda, for coming from Elizabethtown to Willow Street to entertain the Link partners and others. He welcomed everyone to the December meeting at Willow Valley and provided basic safety briefing instructions. He asked corrections, additions, etc. to the draft December 15, 2016 Meeting Minutes Submitted by Brian L. Long Page 1 of 4
2 minutes for the November meeting; none were offered and the minutes were accepted. Brian announced the newest Link partners, Casey Ball Supports Coordination, LLC and PF Strategies, LLC. The Lancaster County partners now totals 146. He reviewed the standing agenda items and reminded everyone to refer to the Website for information about possible cancellations due to weather conditions during the winter months. Cross-training programs Lancaster County s Executive Director of the County s Behavioral Health / Developmental Services (BH/DS) program, Larry George, was the cross-training facilitator. 4 As the leader of this department, he is accountable for engaging resources efficiently and effectively to serve Lancaster County s people who seek services for community mental health, intellectual disability, and early intervention. BH/DS is mandated by state and federal law to provide services to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness, children and youth with emotional disturbance, individuals with intellectual disabilities and children age birth to three years old who have developmental delays. Larry overviewed the organization and it s separate divisions and he shared several insightful perspectives from his experience and tenure with the department. He also shared his views about the imminent state budget shortfall and the likely impact on social services providers to BD/DS. At the conclusion of his comments, the meeting participants posed numerous questions to him. Larry responded to each question until Brian closed the cross-training Q&A due to time considerations. IV. New Business Next month s cross-training meeting January 19, 2017 Quality Insights Pennsylvania. The meeting will be held at the Long December 15, 2016 Meeting Minutes Submitted by Brian L. Partner information sharing 1 Brian asked for partner events sharing. Adjournment Brian asked for other new business. Nothing was offered and the meeting was adjourned at 2:32 pm. The Singing Mayor obliged with a few more tunes to close the meeting as many of the meeting participants engaged in networking and idea sharing. 1 The purpose of this sharing of information is to give each meeting participant opportunity to share information that may benefit our identified target populations and/or resource providers.
