We work daily to save local landscapes for the purposes of clean water, outdoor recreation, fresh food, wildlife habitat, healthy forests, and a robust coastal environment. Our mission recognizes that conservation is achieved through two steps: the protection of the land itself, and careful and persistent stewardship. It also clearly ties the desire for conservation lands to both people and communities, recognizing how important conservation is to people and nature, with the well-being of both parties nurtured by protected lands. Conservation is not just for nature. SELT sees protected open spaces as integral to the long-term sustainability of our region, providing direct and indirect benefits to all residents. SELT is one of only 12 land trusts in New Hampshire accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Accreditation is a rigorous, independent evaluation, assuring SELT's donors, partnering landowners, and communities that SELT meets the highest ethical, legal, and financial management standards of the land trust community. The festival starts with a 5k and 10k race through the landscape around Burley Farms.
