2 About the Fisherman s Wharf CBD The Fisherman s Wharf Community Benefit District (FWCBD) was founded in November of 2005 by the business and property owners of the San Francisco neighborhood. The district is funded through an annual assessment for 15 years from the property owners. The association is also a 501(c)(3), which allows the organization to apply for federal, state and locally funded grants, as well as to seek out sponsorships from companies with a philanthropic division. The Community Benefit District serves as a catalyst for unification of Fisherman's Wharf constituents to support a positive change to their San Francisco neighborhood. The purpose of the FWCBD is to preserve and enhance its vast waterfront landscape and multi-cultural heritage, while integrating modern efficiencies to enrich the experience of visitors from both near and far through market research, brand and destination marketing, sidewalk operations, district beautification, traffic and urban planning, and emergency preparedness. About the Fisherman s Wharf District The Fisherman s Wharf historic district is the number one destination for visitors to San Francisco and the #6 top attraction in the United States based on visitation (*Source: Forbes.com). With daily visitation reaching over 100,000 people and annual visitation of over 10 million, Jefferson Street, the main thoroughfare of the neighborhood, receives more pedestrian traffic than Times Square in New York City. The intersection of Jefferson & Taylor Streets is one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the country and can swell to approximately 90,000 people per day in the summer months. The website VisitFishermansWharf.com receives an average of 32,000 unique visitors per month. The Fisherman s Wharf Facebook page (Facebook.com/VisitFishermansWharf) has over 30,000 likes, with a daily reach of approximately 3,000. Fisherman s Wharf is beloved by travelers from around the world. For international visitors to San Francisco, it is the #1 most visited neighborhood (*Source: San Francisco Travel Association research study conducted by Destination Analysts). In intercept surveys conducted in 2010, when asked what a person would change about the Wharf, 26% said that there was nothing that they would change. In addition, the Wharf s Facebook rating is 4.5/5 stars, and on Trip Advisor out of 2,246 reviews, Fisherman s Wharf is ranked 4/5 stars and received a Certificate of Excellence in About Wharf Fest The FWCBD s annual Wharf Fest attracts both visitors and locals to celebrate all things Fisherman's Wharf. It takes place at the central hub of the district near the iconic Fisherman s Wharf crab wheel sign. An estimated 30,000 people visited Wharf Fest in 2014, including over 2,000 attendees of ticketed events and festival programming including the Chowder Cook-Off and music performances. The event is produced by Steven Restivo Event Services (SRES). SRES is the top event production company in the Bay Area and produces legendary neighborhood festivals such as Fillmore Jazz Festival, The St. Patrick s Day Festival, North Beach Festival, and more.
