2 Newsletter Message For Hope, For Strength, For Life. This year, our Newport South Coast Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter chose the theme of Hope to build our programming and events around. We ve been a busy group of dynamic, dedicated and involved women, and often find ourselves at meetings getting to know new sisters, catching up on life happenings, and general merriment, and spreading Hope to sisters and the community. Several members are getting married or having a baby, and they re eagerly planning the future, and our sisters share in their joy and hope. Our members got to visit the Blind Children s Learning Center and learn about brailing with the North Orange County Chapter, and our members shared in learning and hope. Our members have gathered in homes and around town to read books, plan, catch up, listen and offer hope. Several members have had family and spouses fall ill or pass, or money is very tight, and our sisters provided comfort, resources, and hope. Several members are in grad school while juggling work and their responsibilities, and our sisters sent messages of support and hope. We are your sisters, your family - we do what families do. We cry, we laugh, we celebrate in all of life's moments, the bad and the good. We stand by each other, lean on each other, offer our love, comfort, support and hope. The bonds of sisterhood are for life. They don t need to be seen or expressed every day to be felt, to be heard, or to be known. This is the power of hope that our sisters of Newport South Coast Delta Gamma have given each other, and all those who bare the name of Delta Gamma. PROGRAMMING We enjoyed very successful late 2017 programming with a fun Fall Kickoff event, a Halloween Costume Bunco event and a beautiful holiday afternoon get-together at Roger s Gardens, complete with shopping! 2018 events so far included Founders Day at the Hilton in March. Our End of Year Luau and Officer Recognition Dinner will be held on Sunday May 20th at Audrey s home in Fountain Valley from 4-6 PM.
3 Our Special Interest Groups continue to be popular. Check our website for upcoming events: newportsouthcoast. deltagamma. org Breakfast Club She is a Circle Book Club DGs After 5 Dine Outs April - Jewelry Exchange Jen, our President Jewelry Exchange FINANCES We have 54 generous members who have paid dues this fiscal year (July 1, June 30,2018), and we have received almost $3,000 in dues. Our dues are crucial to our continued operations. Delta Gamma Fraternity s expenses include coverage of our web fee, insurance, alumnae chapter annual fee, and payment for our delegate to attend Delta Gamma Convention in June. We also use our funds to create programming for all members of Delta Gamma. We aim to enhance friendship, sisterhood, networking and fun! Additionally, our funds are used to support Delta Gamma collegians at two local chapters at UCI and Chapman as well as to support our local philanthropy at the Blind Children s Learning Center in Santa Ana. If you have not yet paid dues, please consider joining Newport-South Coast today or after July 1 st for the new Fiscal Year!
4 FOUNDATION This Spring, our members will have the opportunity to participate in a Foundation-related event. Saturday May 12th, NSC will join other Orange County DGs as a sponsor and participant in the 14th Annual BCLC 5k Walk and Carnival in North Tustin. 5 March Vision Beyond Sight Fundraiser for BCLC with speaker, Jake Olson COMMUNICATION Last summer, Michele Spencer prepared the minutes for the Executive Bmlmoard meetings. In August and September, she managed the beautiful postcard design and mailing process, with Audrey s help. As dues were paid, she wrote and sent out thank you notes to each local member. At the Holiday party, we had a drawing for a prize (bracelet) for the Anchor Club (Blue Dues Level) members as an incentive to pay dues at the top level.
