1 ...the 29th January 2016 latest news from around the Trust Professor Alison Yung named one of the world s most influential scientific minds for the second year running The 2015 list of Highly Cited Researchers represents some of the world s most influential minds and recognises leading academics in the sciences and social sciences from around the world. Professor Yung is one of roughly three thousand researchers from across the globe to earn this distinction, by having published the greatest number of highly cited papers in her field of psychiatry and psychology worldwide. Highly cited is defined as ranking among the top one percent for their subject field and year of publication, for which Thomson Reuters awards the mark of exceptional impact. Professor Yung s research focuses on people with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. She is currently Chief Investigator in a study called ibeep investigating the Benefits of Exercise in Early psychosis and Co-Investigator on a lead study examining cognitive therapy and medication in treatment if early psychosis. The Family and Carers Strategy Launch The Family and Carers Strategy has been launched today (29 Jan 2016) at our annual carers listening event, Carers Matter, at The Curve. The Strategy recognises and values the important work of family and friends, young and old, caring for people who need help due to a mental illness, addiction or dementia. It sets out how the Trust will involve and support carers across Bolton, Salford, Trafford, Prestwich, Wigan and Leigh, Central Lancashire and Cumbria as well as how they will work with local organisations to make life better for carers. s Family and Carers Strategy demonstrates the Trust s commitment to carers and provides details for the direction and development of local support and services over the next four years. Photo Left to Right: Anne Broadhurst, Carer Governor, Tracy Collard, Carer Lead, Alan Maden, Trust Chair, Karen, local carer, and Gill Green, Director of Nursing and Operations Anne Broadhurst who is our carer governor at the Trust has been crucial in helping us develop and update the strategy. She said: I wanted to use my own personal experiences of being a carer to help shape this Strategy. I know all too well how vital the care of a loved one with mental health problems is to their recovery and that s why it is so important to ensure carers are acknowledged and supported in their role. A full press release is available here.
