1 a program of Solid Ground RSVP Partner Sites & Volunteer Opportunities: Central Seattle American Cancer Society: Seeking volunteers for our Road to Recovery program and Cancer Resource Centers. Help patients by assisting them in finding resources directly in the hospitals where they are being treated, or by driving them to and from their appointments. Training is provided so you don t need any prior experience to help these cancer patients. Atlantic Street Center (ASC) is a nonprofit child and family service agency whose mission is to help families and communities raise healthy, successful children. Volunteers are needed to work directly with children, youth, and/or adults as tutors and mentors. Volunteer opportunities are located in the Rainier Valley, Central District, Beacon Hill and New Holly. Baby Boutique (Wellspring Family Services): Provides clothing, baby equipment, diapers, infant formula, toys, books and other essential items at no cost to homeless children up to the age of 17. Families are referred to receive services from over 100 different agencies in the King County area. Volunteer will help sort and display donations and ensure the Boutique area is kept clean, neat and appealing to clientele. Impact the lives of children and families everyday by becoming a volunteer at Baby Boutique. Bailey-Boushay House is seeking dependable volunteers to fill a four hour shift each week. Volunteers are a vital part of our agency providing one to one companionship; assisting with community meals, outings, activities and escorts to medical appointments. Volunteers are the heart of Bailey-Boushay House, increasing the quality of life to residents and clients and enhancing programs 365 days of the year. Bloodworks Northwest: Become part of the lifesaving link that delivers blood to patients in need in your community. Many opportunities available depending on whether you prefer to be a donor monitor, making certain donors feel well after donating or working at the front desk, or greeting and registering donors in the computer system. Weekly shifts, Monday Saturday during the day and some evenings are available. Volunteers especially needed in downtown Seattle. Broadview Emergency Shelter: A program of Solid Ground, Broadview is an emergency shelter and provides transitional housing. Volunteer opportunities are
2 flexible and occur mostly in the evenings. They include one-on-one tutoring for children and adults. Chicken Soup Brigade: Have the wheels (and heart) to deliver some meals? Chicken Soup Brigade s volunteer delivery drivers are the heart and soul of their food program, delivering thousands of bags of groceries as well as meals each year to clients. Routes generally take minutes to complete and on average, you will deliver to 4-7 clients. They have regular routes and sub-driving needs Monday-Saturday. Circle of Friends for Mental Health: This wonderful group works to improve the lives of people with pervasive mental illness through classes and community outreach programs. Share your skills as a class leader, an assistant leader, or help provide administrative assistance. Training provided. Classes offered at several facilities in Central and North Seattle. Communities in Schools of Seattle: Helping students stay in school and prepare for life is what volunteers do through CIS of Seattle. Volunteer opportunities include elementary math tutors, middle school math coaches, and coordinating or helping out at events. Help students in grades K-2 at least once a week to understand math concepts by playing interactive games that will help them reach their next grade level. You don t need to be a math whiz to volunteer! Cooking Matters: A program of Solid Ground designed to teach low income families how to prepare healthy and tasty meals on a limited budget. We are looking for volunteer chefs, nutritionists and assistants for 6 week courses as well as volunteers to assist as grocery shoppers and help pick up and deliver groceries to Cooking Matter sites at various Seattle-area locations. Training provided. CourtWatch: Interested in learning more about the criminal justice system? Would you like to help improve this process for victims of sexual assault and abuse? CourtWatch is recruiting volunteers to serve as court monitors. Our monitors sit in on court cases, take notes, and report back about what they observe. Volunteer positions are available at the King County Superior Courthouse in Seattle and the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. The Educurious solution is an innovative curriculum that uses a blended learning model featuring teachers as guides, relevant and interesting projects for students, as well as professionals to provide feedback and real world experiences to students. We are in need of volunteers professionals to serve as virtual mentors for high school students.
3 All communication with the students is flexible and can fit it in around volunteer schedules. It is not necessary to visit the classroom or be available during school hours. FareStart delivers meals to local area homeless shelters 365 days a year! On a shelter run, you help pack up meals for transportation and deliver them to local homeless shelters, then have an opportunity to serve dinner at the Downtown Emergency Service Center alongside FareStart chefs and students. No driving necessary. Shelter runs happen daily from 3 to 6:30 pm. Financial Beginnings: This volunteer driven, community oriented organization utilizes trained volunteers to teach students elementary through high school age and young adults the basics of banking, budgeting, investing, credit and risk management. Their volunteers are an inspiration to students and serve as strong community role models. First Place School is devoted to helping children and families who are vulnerable due to being in transition, in crisis, or homeless. Volunteer tutors and mentors are needed as well as volunteers for their clothing bank. Sort and wash donations on site and bring children into the bank to fit them with requested items. Or volunteer as a receptionist and answer incoming calls and route to appropriate staff and assist with support tasks. Full Life Care: Assist or lead a variety of fun activities for frail elders and people with disabilities. Help them maintain an independent and dignified lifestyle by enhancing their physical, social and cognitive functioning. Volunteers needed between 9am and 2pm Monday-Friday or anywhere in between. The ElderFriends program which is part of Full Life Care needs volunteers as well. Make regular visits with an isolated older adult 2 3 times a month. Spend time with them cooking, talking, and going on walks, to appointments or to the movies. Training and ongoing education/support for volunteers provided. Jewish Family Service is seeking home delivery volunteers. Once a month, pick up groceries at their Capitol Hill food bank and deliver to seniors and adults with disabilities. You deliver to the same clients each month. Weekday or Sunday shifts. Also seeking substitute drivers for home delivery and food bank helpers. May through October collect produce donations at Broadway Farmers Market two Sunday afternoons a month. KCSARC: The King County Sexual Assault Resource Center needs CourtWatch volunteers. Interested in learning more about the criminal justice system?

Keiro Northwest Formerly Nikkei Concerns: Keiro Northwest provides health and related services in a traditional atmosphere to primarily Japanese American families in the Pacific Northwest. Volunteers needed for companionship and activities in the adult day center in both Seattle and Bellevue. Museum of Pop Culture or Mo Pop (formerly EMP - Experience Music Project) is a leading-edge nonprofit museum, dedicated to the ideas and risk-taking that fuel contemporary pop culture. With its roots in rock n roll, EMP reaches multigenerational audiences through its collections, exhibitions, and educational programs. As an Information Desk Volunteer you would have the opportunity to welcome and interact with the diverse population visiting the museum. Or, as Sound Lab Volunteer assist guests in experimenting with the musical equipment and mixing stations in the lab. New Beginnings Community Advocacy Program Help Line: Be a critical link in helping domestic violence survivors seek safety and find the services they need to move forward. Provide callers with emotional support, shelter information and resources. Provide safety planning, whether they are staying in the relationship, getting ready to leave or have just left. Assist caller with prioritizing needs. (Attend 4-week Domestic Violence Volunteer & Advocacy Training and make a 1 year commitment to agency.) Pacific Science Center: Do you have a lively curiosity and love science and math? The Pacific Science Center seeks you to volunteer to inspire lifelong learning in science, math and technology with our guests, both young and old. We have many opportunities from horticulture to science interpretation to our maker space. Puget Sound Labor Agency (PSLA): Make a positive impact on the less-fortunate living in downtown Seattle by volunteering with the PSLA Food Bank at the historic Labor Temple in Belltown. Volunteers are needed for data entry, delivery pick-up, driver, food distribution, customer greeter and food bank journalist. Opportunities for retired builders that help wheelchair users access their homes also available through the RAMP program. Volunteer shifts vary from 2-4 hours in length.
5 Reading Partners: Reading Partners is actively seeking volunteers to support young readers at elementary schools in Central, West and South Seattle. Tutor a child and make a life-long impact in as little as one-hour each week! Reading Partners is a national nonprofit literacy organization that works to expand life opportunities for elementary school children by empowering them with strong literacy skills Seattle Cancer Care Alliance volunteers provide practical, social and emotional support to patients undergoing cancer treatment and their families. Volunteers provide airport transportation, serve in the gift shop, play healing music in the clinic lobbies and host monthly social events for patients (crafting, knitting, games etc.) to name a few of the many type of services they provide. Seattle Goodwill Last year 780 volunteers supported over 9,700 students in Goodwill s free Job Training and Education programs. Volunteers help us achieve our mission of changing lives through jobs. There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer, including: supporting students in our Job Training and Education Centers, assisting administration departments with important projects, and bringing our Vintage Fashion Collection and special events to life. Solid Ground (Sponsor of RSVP in King County) Solid Ground works to end poverty, undo racism and other oppressions that are the root causes of poverty by providing housing, food, transportation and other services to at risk populations across King County. Volunteer positions are open in many of the programs we administer. Opportunities include nutrition education, tutoring, helping at the community farms, and supporting outreach efforts. Sound Generations (formerly Senior Services) of Seattle-King County: Put your good self to good use by helping Sound Generations in a number of Senior Centers. Volunteers needed in community dining programs to help prepare and set tables for lunch, assist in the preparation of food, serve lunch to guests, and clear dishes and assist with clean up. Meals on Wheels drivers are needed to be responsible for the delivery of meals within a designated route. Become involved in a pilot pet food Meals on Wheels project or consider volunteering in Information and Assistance or Transportation Services.
6 Volunteer Services of Catholic Community Services (CCS) welcomes volunteers to enable low-income elders and adults with disabilities to remain independent in their own homes. Volunteers may help the same persons or be listed for on-call opportunities depending on their schedule and interests. Requests range from transportation, chores, laundry, cooking, yard work, yard tools upkeep to office work. Volunteers receive training, mileage reimbursement and insurance. Volunteer Services of Catholic Community Services (CCS) has a special project called Phone Buddies that seeks to connect isolated elderly and disabled adults with members of the community through weekly phone conversations. Many older adults live isolated lives at home without the ability or means to travel outside. Some do not have family or friends in their local area or no longer have these supports in their lives. If you are able to donate time once a week to have a phone conversation with an isolated adult, please let us know. Youth Tutoring Program is looking for SUMMER volunteers to help prevent summer learning loss in 1 st -8 th grade students living in low-income housing. Volunteers come for 1.5 hour sessions to read with kids, help with math, and on Thursdays, learn about birds! The program runs July 10 th -August 18 th in the afternoon and early evening in 4 different centers all across Seattle. Make a difference in a child s life this summer! Youth Tutoring Program Be a hero in a child s life. Train to be a one-on-one tutor for children or work in small groups with reading and skill building in language, arts and math at one of six neighborhood tutoring centers in the Seattle area. Involve students in stimulating learning activities and make learning exciting, relevant and creative. Centers are community based and provide volunteers the unique opportunity to tutor and mentor the same student week to week. YWCA works to eliminate racism and empower women. YWCA s Central Area Food Bank needs volunteers Wed from 8:30am-12pm & 11:30am-4pm to help the food bank receive and stock supplies for the arrival of families. Volunteers also needed to serve meals at Angeline s Day Center for Women during the week. Childhood Hunger Helpers, a program that delivers weekend meals to students on free and reduced lunch, need volunteers on Wed from 10am-12pm and Fri from 9-11am.
