1 Greetings Local Food Advocate! I am writing to invite you to sponsor our annual Sunday Supper on October 5, 2014 at the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA). Whew! What a mouth full right? The truth is that beyond our name we are all about keeping mouths full - full of fresh, delicious, in-season, humanely raised and sustainably grown food. At the heart of the farm-to-table movement in the San Francisco Bay Area, CUESA has been highlighting California s incredible farm fresh food at our Ferry Plaza Farmers Market for over 20 years. CUESA is keenly interested in deeper food experiences and our chef cooking demonstrations, sustainability talks and dynamic farm tours led by innovative farmers and ranchers all serve to bridge the gap between urban eaters and rural food producers. A quarter of CUESA s annual budget is spent on our education programs, because we understand that informed and inspired eaters will change the way we produce and consume food in America. Our Schoolyard to Market program provides hands-in-the-dirt garden trainings to three San Francisco high schools, where students learn how to grow, harvest, transport and sell produce at a CUESA market stand. Our Foodwise Kids instructors work with elementary school aged children to purchase food at the market and then prep, cook, serve and eat it. Sunday Supper is our most significant fundraiser of the year and a chance to celebrate CUESA s dynamic community of chefs and farmers. A red carpet welcomes you to the entrance of the Ferry Building and the champagne and oyster reception will be followed by a decadent 4-course meal and auction upstairs in the Grand Hall. The meal features over 30 of the Bay s most distinguished chefs creating delicious dishes that are expertly paired with award winning Napa Valley wines. 2 Sunday Supper Overview October 5, :00-10:00pm Ferry Building Grand Hall, San Francisco The event Sunday Supper is an elegant celebration of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market community and California s rich agricultural bounty. Thirty of San Francisco s best chefs join wine makers and farmers in the historic Ferry Building for a celebration in support of CUESA s mission to cultivate a healthy food system. Guests will walk the red carpet in front of the star-studded chef kitchen to the Ferry Building Marketplace. The party begins with a reception featuring sparkling wine, oyster bar, hors d oeurves, Napa Valley wine, and artisan cocktails. The festivities continue upstairs with an elegant four-course gourmet dining experience in the Grand Hall. Long tables and family-style service reflect our core values of community dining, and encourage guests to interact as they enjoy the unique menus created by six different chef teams (including chefs from: Delfina, Nopa, Perbacco, Prospect, Spruce and The Slanted Door). Each of the six distinct menus prepared by our chefs is paired with premier wines by a distinguished sommelier, and features a entrée carved tableside. Sponsors are invited to select their menu in advance. A live auction featuring one-of-a-kind, culinary-themed items will complete the evening s festivities. So Much to Celebrate! Since 1994, CUESA has hosted the most prominent and visible farmers market in the country. In the last decade, the Sunday Supper has raised over $950,000 and brought an incredible community of conscientious eaters and thinkers together. These funds have provided critical support for our many education programs, including farm tours, Foodwise kids classes, chef-cooking demonstrations, farmer scholarships, hands on cooking classes, panel discussions, discovery stations at the market and our online educational tools. Foodwise Kids and Foodwise Families This year CUESA aims to raise $100,000, with funds supporting initiatives such as Foodwise Kids, a cooking class and field trip for San Francisco public elementary school students. Foodwise Kids field trips use the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market as a classroom for inspiring students to love vegetables and fruits through comparative tastings, exploring the market, and a hands-on cooking lesson. This free program is offered at both weekday farmers markets during the academic year. Help us cultivate the next generation of healthy eaters and grow the program into the summer months, and include whole families as we expand to include evening classes for parents and kids alike. SF Bay Area Residents Over 65% of surveyed shoppers at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market are residents of San Francisco, with over 80% coming from within the greater Bay Area. Socially Aware Over 67% of survey respondents appreciate the value of high quality, locally produced goods, indicating they were willing to pay more for food produced using sustainable practices. Diverse Age Groups Our events appeal to a wide range of ages; the average age is 47; 23% are between the ages of 25-34, 21% between the ages of 35-44, 23% are between the ages of 45-54, and 23% are between the ages of Savvy Epicureans 91% of surveyed shoppers indicate they shop at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market because of the exceptional quality of the products, while 80% shop because of the diversity of products available. Financially Sound The median annual income of attendees at our events is just over $170,000. How will you reach them?
