St. Helena Rotary Club FY YE Review Norman Mitroff, Club President June 30, 2015 Final Version V2 DG 1

Agenda Welcome Business Results Avenues of Service Summary & Thank You! The Road Ahead 2

June

Welcome Norm Mitroff I believe I became a Rotarian many years ago, when in my early 20 s, I volunteered to be of service to a local YMCA. I ultimately became the Director of that YMCA, went on to obtain my Ph.D. and worked as a Clinical Psychologist for a number of years. During that work, while I might have heard the term a Rotarian, I did not know what it really meant. However, I was providing services to patients and my community and did so happily. While I did not join the St. Helena Rotary until November of 2003, I believe I was a Rotarian, in spirit, many years before that. The motto of Rotary is Service Above Self. Thoughtfulness of others is the basis of service and helpfulness of others is its expression. I believe a person can never read the story of Rotary, its Four-Way Test, and the objectives of Rotary without realizing there is a greatness, a goodness and an excellence in Rotary and not be concerned about their part in promoting these ideals. 4

Welcome Norm Mitroff I believe in serving our community, doing it for the betterment of the community not for me I believe in being fair to all -that might include myself as well I believe in honesty especially being honest to myself and I believe Rotary, especially St. Helena Rotary is providing services which make me very proud to say I am a Rotarian and now Past-President of the Rotary Club of St. Helena. 5

Club Service Suzan Rada 24

Club Service Suzan Rada Key Accomplishments Created a HAPPY Spoke in the wheel Added elements to the Club Infrastructure to interest members from 2 distinctly different demographics - Special Events, Holidays, and Member Recognition Created exchange, networking, and more fellowship opportunity Key Member Contributors We always need more key members, but not too many We need to embrace a simple form of gentle volunteering that is not mundane or tedious The members I feel contribute endlessly and truly model the SAS model are Cynthia Warren, Dick Gourley, and Donn Black. These core people know Club service functions, are selfstarter, and have quietly created the direction of and during the meetings we have. Cynthia has always been available to help me with events making the task much easier. 25

Club Service Suzan Rada Recommendations & Ideas for FY More follow-through with small subcommittees A definite signature fund raiser Engaging new members immediately a model created by Membership Committee An brochure / flyer after our true identity is recognized An annual calendar of fellowship events with little deviation An annual calendar of fundraising events that include all timelines One meeting per month used for reporting, brainstorming, interactive communication Possibly a Club Forum? 26

Vocational Service Rod Ellison 27
