LOCAL DOLLARS, LOCAL IMPACT Komen St. Louis distributes 75% of its net income to fund local, life-saving breast health screening, education and patient navigation programs for women, men and families who otherwise may not have access. The remaining 25 percent funds groundbreaking breast cancer research. In 2013, Komen St. Louis awarded $2.2 million in community grants in its 17-county Missouri/ Illinois service area. Since 1999, Komen St. Louis has awarded more than $28 million in grants to local organizations and nearly $9 million to breast cancer research in St. Louis and beyond. At the same time, more than $20 million raised here and nationwide has come back to St. Louis facilities for breast cancer research. That means more than 100 percent of the dollars raised here have remained in and returned to our community. The Komen Race for the Cure Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. The Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure is one of the largest in the country.
