Wednesday 2 nd March Gardening Group Empowerment Offices, 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH Join us for an aftenoon in the garden, today we will be planting beetroot and sprucing up of the hanging baskets ready for spring. There will be some light weeding of the raised beds and repotting of the sage and other herbs into a new herb bed and preparing the other raised beds ready for planting. There will be NO hard manual work. Thursday 3 rd March Womens Group Empowerment Offices, 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH Join us for a relaxing afternoon with friends, this afternoon we will be enjoying some pampering, making and decorating a paperweight to take home, and we also have our regular baking session, knitting or crafts available. Monday 7 th March Dementia Services Social Group The Wainwright Club, 173 Hornby Road FY1 4RD This afternoon we will be joined by Sue from The Butterfly Project at Blackpool Victoria Hospital to discuss her work with dementia services within the hospital and how they offer support to patients. This will be alongside our usual quiz, game of higher or lower and bingo, also the chance to find out what is coming up within the groups and activities. FREE OF CHARGE: Refreshments provided Wednesday 9 th March Arts & Craft Group Empowerment 333 Bispham Road FY2 0HH 2.30pm 4.00pm With St Patricks day coming up, we will be making St Patricks day decorations for you to take home, including bunting, painting of shamrocks and card making, there will also be a cookie decorating competition.

2 Friday 11 th March Music and Dance group Empowerment offices, 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH 2.00pm 3.30pm We will be having a sing-a-long of the post war favourites, such as the Andrew Sisters, George Formby and Gracie Fields. Come along and have a song and dance, enjoy a fun afternoon with friends old and new. Monday 14 th March Mens Group The Wainwright Club, 173 Hornby Road FY1 4RD pm Come along and enjoy a game of dominoes, cards, snooker, or try one of our jigsaws. Join us for a friendly chat and to socialise with others *Please note* the Mens group is for men with a memory problem. FREE OF CHARGE: drinks are available to purchase from the bar Wednesday 16 th March Lunch Group The Golden Eagle, Warren Drive, Thornton Cleveleys FY5 3TG 12:30pm 2.00pm At the Golden Eagle you ll find a variety of great value pub favourites on the menu. Lunch club offers two courses for 4.99, including: sausage & mash, chicken breast and Yorkshire pudding, chilli or scampi & chips. Prices start from 4.99 *please book your place so we know how many seats to reserve* Friday 18 th March Dementia Services Mid-Monthly Social Group The Wainwright Club, 173 Hornby Road FY1 4RD This afternoon we will be joined by PC Ian Ashton from Blackpool Police to discuss safety when out and about and also at home. We will also have an Easter Egg raffle alongside our usual quiz, game of higher or lower and bingo, also the chance to find out what is coming up within the groups and activities. 3 Tuesday 22 nd March Ten Pin Bowling (1 st Bowl Blackpool) Market Street, Blackpool, FY1 1EZ 10.45pm 12.00pm Don t worry if you have never played before it s fun and easy to do and we ll be staying for a well-deserved brew and a chat afterwards. NB: There is a flight of stairs to the venue and no lift Cost is 1.50 per person Drinks available to purchase at the venue Wednesday 23 rd March Big Trip Skipton Castle and Markets Over 900 years old, Skipton castle is one of the most preserved medieval castles in England. We will have a guided tour of the castle or if you prefer you can explore the local markets or gardens, then on to a local pub for lunch before making our journey home per person (entrance/tour and travel) *please note* the castle is not wheelchair accessible. Pick ups at The Golden Eagle Cleveleys, The Squirrel Pub Bispham, The Number 3 Pub, The Saddle Pub, Station Road, Arnold School, Subway on Squires Gate Lane ALSO on the 23 rd Wednesday 23 rd March Afternoon Tea Dance Cameo Community Café Marton Methodist Church, Midgeland Road Blackpool 1.30pm 4.00pm Lavinia Buckley is hosting an afternoon tea party, with music and dance and an opportunity to meet others in the same situation for friendship and support. Blackpool Soundwaves will be attending to sing, there will also be a raffle and all money raised on the day will go to Dementia Care charities per person to include: tea, coffee sandwiches and cakes MoSaturday 26 th March Coffee & catch up Solaris Cafe, Solaris Centre Blackpool 10.30am-12.30pm This will be an informal coffee morning, a chance to come together to enjoy a Saturday morning with friends and find out what is coming up in the friendship and support network. FREE OF CHARGE: Refreshments may be purchased at the café

4 Monday 28 th March Evening Support Group The Tramway, Victoria Road West, Thornton Cleveleys FY5 3LB 6.00pm 8.00pm Join us for a coffee or a meal if you wish, and a chance to meet up with others who understand in a relaxing environment, a chance to find out what is coming up with groups and activities. FREE OF CHARGE: Refreshments and meals available to purchase Tuesday 29 th March Reminiscence group Empowerment Offices, 333 Bispham Road, Bispham FY2 0HH pm Womens work is never done! Join us for a look at a video scrap book of the daily life and the events of the middle and late 1950 s when we d never had it so good look back at the washing of the steps and using the twin tub, if you were lucky enough to have one. Monday 4 th April Dementia Services Social Group The Wainwright Club, Hornby Road Today we have speakers from Trinity Hospice coming to talk to us about the work they do and their new exciting work/project with dementia patients. This will then be followed by our usual quiz, game of higher or lower and bingo. FREE OF CHARGE: Refreshments available to purchase from the Bar Wednesday 6 th April Gardening Group Empowerment Offices, 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH Time to plant some spring/summer bulbs and prepare the raised beds for new herbs and salad crops such as spring onions and lettuce. There will be some light weeding of the raised beds and checking on the onions and garlic we have growing. There will be NO hard manual work. Thursday 7 th April Womens Group Empowerment Offices, 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH Join us for a relaxing afternoon with friends. This afternoon we will be having a look back at womens roles duing and after the war, with lots of discussion and memories, if you have any photographs you would like to bring along, please do and we can share our memories together. We also have knitting and arts & crafts available.

There will be a prize for the winner of the best decorated plant pot. *please book* your place for this group, so we know how much stuff we will need Music and Dance group Empowerment offices, 333 Bispham Road, FY2 0HH 2.00pm 3.30pm This month we are having a Perry Como music group, we will be singing along to some of his most memorable songs such as: Magic Moments, Catch a falling star and Papa Loves Mambo. Join us for a sing-a-long and a dance if feeling energetic. This will be alongside our usual quiz, game of higher or lower and bingo, also the chance to find out what is coming up within the groups and activities. FREE OF CHARGE: Refreshments provided Tuesday 26 th April Reminiscence group Empowerment Offices, 333 Bispham Road, Bispham FY2 0HH 2.00pm 3.30pm Today we are joined by Alan, who will be looking at, Too young to remember the Coronation a musical video scrapbook of events and everyday life in the early 1950s music, film, early TV and living conditions from that time. A chance to remember the golden age of Hollywood and musicals, no central heating and the crowning of the Queen. Wednesday 27 th April Big Trip Towneley Hall, Park and Gardens. Burnley BB11 3RQ Towneley Hall Park and Gardens is the largest park in Burnley. It has a long history as a private estate, with much of it s current landscape the result of the work carried out in the late eighteenth century. 7 Hope you are all enjoying the groups and activities we have available, if you have idea s for groups, activities or trips, please let us know. January and February has seen a busy start to the year for us all, and also a little sad due to Claire leaving. Claire was a huge part of of our team and a valued member of the dementia friendship support network. We wish her all the very best for her new adventure at Victim Support Lancashire. Our trips are filling up quickly, can we please ask if you would like to attend the monthly trips, to pay as soon as possible. Due to demand the seats are on a first come first serve basis, as always we have a reserve list available. If you have any idea s for places to visit for the trips, please speak to Becci. Well as we are now approaching Spring, we will be back in the garden here at Empowerment, so far the group have been busy, and planted some red onions, garlic and white onions. We have also planted some Daffodil plants on the entrance to the building behind the window. In the coming months we will be re-planting the hanging baskets. Also working on the raised herb area, as we have lots of new herbs and salad to grow this year, as well as planting out the the rosemary plants which are now outgrowing their home in the tubs. Our partnership with Sainsburys as their charity of the year is gong well, we have many idea s and fundraising days in store coming up over the next few months, if you have an hour or two free on the day and would like to come along and support us, all help is appreciated. Fundraising so far has been very positive when we have been in store, and people stop to talk to us and find out more about we offer as a service within Blackpool. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Sainsburys for all the wonderful hampers and prizes they are generously donating to support our fundraising. If you have any idea s for fundraising please let us know. Thank you to all who do volunteer their time to join us on our awareness and fundraising days, it always lovely to have you join us. We have recently had to cancel groups and activities, due to no one has booked to attend. This is not a decision we take lightly and we do please ask if you can book and let us know you are going to be joining us, even a quick call on the day is ok. This allows us to prepare and to make sure we have everything for the groups and activities to go ahead and if we have enough equipment we may need and staff availabilty. Coming in to summer we are looking to host another family and friends picnic day, is this something you may like to attend? If so please let us know and if you have any idea s for the day, such as games etc... It has also been suggested a cinema afternoon once a month or every other month to attend as a group for classic movies the cinema s show? Again if this is something you think you may enjoy attending please let us know, if we have enough people interested we can look in to this. We love to see all of you at any of our groups/activities but must please ask that you let us know if you are coming. It is really helpful for us when planning our events so that we know how many staff will be needed and how many resources we need to prepare. Just a quick call on and speak to Becci, Lindsey, or Jackie to confirm your attendance would be greatly appreciated.
