1 Mind Media Awards 2016 Be a sponsor. Help tell the real story. Monday 14 November 2016 The Troxy, London mind.org.uk/awards

2 We re Mind, the mental health charity for England and Wales. We re here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. We believe the most powerful way to challenge the prejudice that people with mental health problems face is to get the real story across. That s why we hold the Mind Media Awards, which recognise and celebrate the best portrayals and reporting of mental health issues across TV, radio, print and online. Be a sponsor of the Mind Media Awards. Help tell the real story. In Mad Fat Diary, all we wanted to do was make one person feel that they weren t alone, that there was nothing wrong with them, that they didn t have to be ashamed. Sharon Rooney, actress, My Mad Fat Diary Winner, Drama 2014

4 About the Awards The Mind Media Awards have been running for over 20 years. All our award winners and nominees have raised awareness, promoted understanding and, most importantly, given a powerful voice to people living with mental health problems. Our judges include BAFTA Award-winning writers, leading journalists and editors, and TV and radio personalities. The ceremony is a glittering event held at the iconic Troxy theatre in East London. It s our second year at our new home for the awards, with the larger venue accommodating for the increasing size and popularity of the event. We are expecting a 650-strong audience that includes journalists, broadcasters, producers, writers and actors from across the media industry, as well as leaders in the mental health field. Be a sponsor of the Mind Media Awards and be part of the real story, recognising the outstanding work of those who have given a voice to people facing mental health problems. It s great that Virgin Money Giving can support the Mind Media Awards to celebrate the fantastic work nominees have produced to help improve perceptions of mental health. Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, 2015 Mind Media Awards sponsor The Mind Media Awards are about raising awareness. Other awards ceremonies don t compare. Nicholas Pinnock, actor and Mind Media Awards judge Raising awareness helps people to know what to do when you are diagnosed. Many people don t know what to do when that happens this is why events like this matter. Cathy Newman, journalist, Channel 4 News 4 Mind Media Awards

Luke Kendall In memory of his partner Heather Coates Heather was the most vibrant generous loving affectionate person I have ever known. Unfortunately she was plagued by selfdoubt, depression, and anxiety, and she took her own life in November 2014 after losing a baby the previous year and having a particularly stressful time at work. She excelled at her job but could never see it herself, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. I m hoping that by sponsoring this award her memory will live on and someone else can get the help they need. Sponsorship feature in 2015 awards programme Mind Media Awards 9
