27 2016: MENTAL HEALTH WEEK Informally began in spring 2016 as school social worker helped Eglinton P.S. plan for their mental health week and suggested the use of Northern students as classroom facilitators. Games and activities were used to explain and discuss stigma and mental health (worry ball, bubble wrap, etc.)

28 : NSS MENTORS 16 mentors were selected based on improvisation and presentation skills and their ability to facilitate group discussions Mentors are from grade and, depending on the school, will assigned to classrooms/homeform classrooms to work with students to promote mental health education. Not to promote NSS

29 : NSS MENTORS In early December 2016 and mid January 2017 mentors will be visiting Hodgson Senior P.S. mentoring grade eight students with a focus on decision making and transitioning to high school. The first visit will involve classroom activities and discussions focused on topics such as: making good choices, assumptions, and peer influence. Second visit will be a Q&A session. In May 2017 mentors will collaborate with grade 7 and 8 Hodgson student council reps to plan schoolwide Mental Health week activities. In May 2017 mentors will visit Eglinton P.S. to continue ongoing mental health education modules.

35 TDSB has made the Mental Health and Well-Being of all its students a priority. It is essential for student achievement and success. We need your help. Parents/caregivers play a key role in helping students be successful both in school and in life. We are looking for parents/caregivers interested in being a member of the Mental Health and Well-Being Parent Partnership Committee. Together, we can work to enhance the mental health and well-being for all TDSB students. Student s mental health and well-being impacts everyone and belongs to each of us. Why be involved? Be the voice of the parents/caregivers of TDSB students, to identify your needs as parents/caregivers regarding mental health and well-being. Guide the development of accessible education, resources and tools to support the mental health and well-being of every student. Who are the members of the Parents Partnership Committee? The committee is comprised of parent/caregiver volunteers from across the TDSB. What does the committee do? The committee educates parents/caregivers with a focus on the importance of mental health and well-being and the critical role they play in helping students to be more successful academically and resilient in life. Where do the meetings take place? The meetings for occur monthly at 5050 Yonge Street 6pm - 8pm. October 17 th November 14 th December 12th January 16 th February 13 th March 6 th April 8 th May 8 th June 12 th How do I get involved? We need your involvement.
