1 The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges The Environmental and Sustainability Champion within Further and Higher Education in the United Kingdom.
2 Introduction A Sustainable Future for Education The EAUC was established and is run by members, for members. It is self-financing and uses its funds for the benefit of the membership. The EAUC also seeks outside finance for projects and facilitates collaborative partnerships between member institutions. Being a member of the EAUC gives your institution the ability to influence the direction the organisation takes and the kinds of areas, issues and projects it becomes involved with, both now and in the future. The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) was established in 1996 to help UK Further and Higher Education institutions improve their environmental and sustainability performance With a membership of over 200 Further and Higher Education institutions, the EAUC is leading the way in integrating sustainability and environmental management into the business management of universities and colleges in the UK Our role, as a member-led Association, is to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our members as sustainable development becomes a mainstream strategic, operational and curriculum issue for the Further and Higher Education sector Working closely in partnership with strategic partners as well as with National and Local Government, Funding Councils and Regulators, EAUC plays a prominent role in the development of policy and strategy within the sector We provide training, advice and support to our members as well as providing a forum for best practice in the sector The EAUC exists to support its members in delivering improved environmental and sustainability performance in universities and colleges. We are the only independent member led support body of this kind in the UK EAUC is registered as an educational charity and is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee Visit to find out more about our current projects
3 Becoming a Member Join now at Universities and Colleges Membership By being a member of the EAUC, key staff in your institution will be kept up to date with developments in environmental legislation, technologies, Education for Sustainable Development and best practice. The opportunity to share both problems and solutions among a network of peers is frequently cited as the greatest benefit. As the EAUC is a key player in the UK delivering services to the sector, members have access to information, ideas and news from many related projects we are involved in - such as the Higher Education Environmental Performance Improvement (HEEPI) and EcoCampus projects. Your membership is per institution with no limits on numbers, so all your staff can enjoy the services and benefits! Benefits of Membership: The EAUC co-ordinates joint activities between its members, offering resources to organise projects and dissemination of good practice. In particular, by being a member of the EAUC you and your colleagues will receive: Advice and support in integrating environmental and sustainability good practice in your institution via our Members Discussion Networks Invitations to EAUC national and regional events, workshops and training seminars Monthly EAUC e-newsletters 3 copies of Earth, EAUC s termly newsletter, every year Eligibility for an EAUC bursary of up to 250 Access to Member s Only areas of the EAUC website EAUC Best Practice Guidance materials at member discounted prices Member discounted rates at the EAUC Annual Conference Support of the EAUC in the development of environmental and sustainability projects
