They will be promoting mental health and discussing stigma associated with mental health in three languages (English, Spanish, and Vietnamese) and providing entertainment and food at this event. Contact: Sanchez, Martha: ext. 1003; m.sanchez@abrazarinc.com May 7, 2016: ACCESS will be hosting a Muslim Mental Health Symposium at an Irvine Mosque to give attendees the opportunity to access their well-being and make the first step to consider counseling as an option should they need it. Contact: Brejeyeh, Muna: ; muna@accesscal.org May 12 and 26, 2016: OMID's Fun Thursdays Event will be conducted with a focus on mental health awareness and a discussion about the existing stigma around mental health. Free public seminars will also be held on these dates. Contact: Li, Annie: ; _annielu@yahoo.com May 25, 2016: VNCOC will be hosting a Mental Health Awareness event at Liberty Park near VNCOC branch office from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. offering Mental Health 101 workshop to educate attendees about mental health along with a presentation about mental health services available at VNCOC. There will also be a nutrition workshop for participants given that this is the largest health concern for the Vietnamese senior community. During the event, VNCOC will invite vendors from different organizations to come and present their services. VNCOC is advertising the event to the community in order to improve mental health awareness within Vietnamese community. 18 May 21st - 22nd, 2016 Reclaim Mental Health Conference 1 This 2-day, 1-night conference will carry on last year s theme of mental health through a social justice and identity-specific lens. It will feature: 1) A movie screening 2) Student panelists and storytelling for healing and support 3) Educational workshops that illuminate how mental health affects and is affected by sociopolitical institutions 4) Keynote speeches that address violence and trauma, disabilities activism, sexual assault prevention, and the vital role our community and students play in advancing mental health services reform and awareness
