3 Who We Are Nationally ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. A sisterhood of more than 250,000 college educated women, the Sorority currently has over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. The major programs of the Sorority are based upon the organization's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust of: o Economic Development o Educational Development o International Awareness and Involvement o Physical and Mental Health o Political Awareness and Involvement The Sorority was founded in 1913 by 22 students at Howard University. These young women wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; to educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities. None of the net income or contributions of the Sorority is utilized to the benefit of or is distributed to members, officers or other private persons except as authorized by the Sorority to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered or to make payments in furtherance of its purposes. As a non-profit organization, no part of the Sorority's activities shall be for propaganda purposes or otherwise attempting to influence legislation in a lobbying role. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. conducts all of its activities in accordance with the rule that governs organizations whose tax status is 501 (c)(7). Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services and programs to promote human welfare. Who We Are Locally The (OCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was chartered on May 28, Ranked as the fifth fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States and further ranked as the number one visitor destination in the world, the Orlando Metropolitan area had a need for more public service and human service organizations to cope with its fast-paced growth and population density. Ready to make a difference were the twenty-four visionary charter members of OCAC, with the establishment of a second chapter in Orlando, Florida. With a desire to revitalize Delta s national programmatic thrust, these women used their organizational skills and education to enhance the civic and social development of the citizens within the Orlando Metropolitan community. Since its inception, OCAC has remained committed to stellar service and delivery of an award-winning public service agenda.

4 ABOUT THE EMINENCE GALA The Eminence Gala, our annual fundraiser for the of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, raises thousands of dollars to benefit our educational programs and services. The 13th Eminence Gala will be held on Saturday, APRIL 7, Our goal is to raise $50,000! Since March of 2006, the of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has produced the Eminence Gala to showcase youth from all over Central Florida. This program focuses on incentive awards while introducing the honorees to society, exposing them to workshop training in the areas of economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement. Young high school juniors and seniors - male and female - have participated in this education-focused program, which encourages and supports academic achievement, while providing life changing experience in areas such as etiquette, professional development, financial management, college preparation and tours, and physical and mental health awareness. By recognizing high achieving junior and senior students for outstanding scholastics, extracurricular involvement and participation in community service endeavors, we have successfully provided approximately $153,000 in support of continued education. ABOUT THE STATEMENT OF NEED Delta Sigma Theta s purpose is to provide services and programs to the community that will promote human welfare. Thanks to individual contributions and long-term corporate partnerships, we are able to help individuals and families throughout the Greater Orlando area. By supporting the Eminence Gala, you can help your community increase the number of high school seniors who can attend a public or private college or university nationwide. Each participant will be selected based on criteria to include participation in each developmental segment, school G.P.A., community service and future aspirations. Applications for the Eminence Gala will be accepted through mid- January with developmental sessions beginning in October. Students who live in the Metro-Orlando area (Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Lake Counties) will be eligible to apply.
