If you and/or your club would like to be in the parade please meet Priscilla at the staging area 2103 N 5th Street between 7:30 and 8:30 am. We will also need static exhibit items for the float. If you are unable to meet between 7:30-8:30, line-up at the Capitol starts at 9 am.

2 Hello 4-H families, It is hard to believe we are coming up on the beginning of a new 4-H year. It is also coming up on three years since I joined Burleigh County 4-H and what a ride it has been! It has been so fun to see our members continue to learn and grow. As we wrap up the H year, here are some highlights from the year: Burleigh County 4-H has been around for 90 years! This year 79 4-H members participated in 4-H Achievement Days. A total of 498 projects (including clover buds) were judged by 35 volunteer judges at static night. Twenty-four wonderful volunteer leaders volunteered their time and talents during the past year to help youth make the Best Better. County enrollment continues to climb with 283 members registered for the year. We broke the 100 camper mark with 105 youth from Burleigh County attending North Dakota 4-H camp. Our second year of service at Fun Night was again a success with over 100 art kits being donated to kids in our community. As you can see, we had a wonderful year in Burleigh County 4-H and I have no doubt we will have another great year. My list of people interested continues to grow every day. Be sure to check out all the wonderful things we have coming up. With Fun Night right around the corner, youth and adult Pinterest for the Playground projects, and so much more, we are set to have a wonderful year. As you have all seen, there will be a program fee of $20 for all 4-H members across the state. This is something new this year. We are told that it is to help offset the budget cuts that Extension had during the last year. If you have questions or would like to discuss this fee, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for another wonderful year. I look forward to working with you and continuing to see the power youth can have in our community. As always, if you need anything, please let me know!

3 CLUB CORNER Information, Recognition and Opportunities for your Club! 4-H Fee Notification The state will start assessing a $20 program fee per member ($60 max per family for the state program fee). There is a grandfather period for this year only that will run until Nov. 1. Members who enroll prior to Nov. 1, on 4-H online, will not be assessed this fee. As of now, this fee will be in addition to the county dues that are currently collected. We will discuss the county dues at the next council meeting. More information on the fee can be found here. Volunteering Opportunity Papa s Pumpkin Patch is looking for volunteers to run the sling shots on their Opening Day, Sunday, Sept. 10. They are looking for 2 student volunteers and one adult for each shift. The shifts for the day are 11:30-1:30, 1:30-3:30 and 3:30-6:30. Please call our office and let us know if you can help. Youth Project Days Registration is now open for the following Youth Pinterest Project Days. The cost per Project Day is $15. Class size is limited to 10, so sign up today! Checkbook Audits Please make sure your club checkbook (if your club has a checkbook) and the Treasurer s Record Book are in order. Plan to bring both items along with a recent bank statement in to the office to review during the month of September. Be advised this may take a couple of days. If you have any egg cartons that you are not using and are going to throw away, please consider dropping them off at the 4-H Building. Thank you! Rabbits for Giveaway Stephanie Geller has two baby rabbits that are Lionhead lop mix they were born Memorial Day weekend. She also has a female lop that is 1 year old and a Lionhead mix that is about a year old as well. Stephanie has three cages available as well. 6 TO THE FOURTH ANNUAL The North Dakota National Guard and Bismarck State College have partnered to host the fourth Annual Community Fit Fair to encourage a culture of total fitness. The Community Fit Fair is your opportunity to connect with your North Dakota National Guard military members while learning about the amazing wellness organizations available in our local communities!
