2 Mississippi State Alumni from Birmingham sponsored PNO in July. Our very own clowns did a great job entertaining with all of those cow bells ringing. The youth group from Corinth Heights Baptist Church One of our favorite volunteers just turned 89! in Haleyville, Alabama, donated 8 wagons to Children s She was given a special birthday bear to look after! Hospital. The group plans to return around Christmas to also volunteer. 2

3 Check out volunteer Linda Granger and Doug Dean having fun in the Southern Company Dunkin Booth this summer. Kids from the hospital were throwing balls and definitely making the target. Dr. Bobster, Jelly Bean, and Whistler doing some clowning Most folks have seen a picture of Whistler's mother, but how about a picture of Whistler's feet with her new clown socks on? Put your clown foot in and shake it all about! 4 The Red Nose Transplant event at the hospital was a big hit! The clowns went room to room and to the lobby to make sure every child got a clown nose to wear. Would the real clown please stand up! Pia Cumagun is one of our volunteers from UAB. She spent part of the summer studying Spanish at the University of Jaen in Spain. It was such an incredible experience! says Cumagun. The first picture was taken at a castle on top of a mountain in Jaen, Spain, which is the city she studied and lived with her host family. The second picture was taken from her hotel room in Madrid. The final photo was also taken in Jaen. It shows some of the olive trees. Pia says the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Mountains and olive trees seemed to go on for forever there. Jaen is known as the world capital of olive oil because it's one of the world's biggest producers. 4

5 Teen volunteer Sam Schaefer is spending the summer in Canada with her dad and grandparents. Sam, along with her sister, grew up in Vancouver, but moved to Alabaster several years ago. They attend Thompson High School. She will be a senior this year and president of the Thompson Key Club. What a beautiful place to spend the summer!
