1 Aspire Senior Living Newsletter 825 Cobblestone Lane, Kimberly, WI (920) aspiresenior.com April 2018 Letter from the Director Dear residents and families, If you love being a part of the Aspire family, why not spread the word? We love when our residents and families refer their friends to our community. And to show you just how much we appreciate it, we ve created a new referral program, where the more friends you refer, the more you ll be rewarded! Here s how it works: For the first person you refer who moves into z Aspire s Assisted Living or Memory Care community, you ll receive a $500 credit on your next month s rent. For the second person, you ll receive a $1,000 credit ($1,500 total). And for three or more referrals, you ll receive a $1,500 credit each ($3,000+ total)! If you have any questions about this new program or the terms and conditions, don t hesitate to reach out to me. Become an Aspire ambassador by referring your friends today! Sincerely, Leslie Hyland Resident Recognition Leslie Hyland Executive Director Elizabeth Rattray Elizabeth Rattray has been a resident of Aspire since January. She enjoys living where there are always activities going on. I enjoy going on all the outings and being able to still be a part of the community, she says. There is always someplace to go, entertainment coming in, or children to interact with weekly. Living here I can be myself. I find myself as a funny lady and they get my humor. The Aspire Mission: To provide the highest standard while protecting, cherishing, and dignifying the knowledge, value, and joy of our respected residents.
2 w A Message from the Wellness Nurse Spring into Action with a Walking Program With the weather gradually getting warmer and warmer, it s a great time to shake off the winter blues and start a new exercise program! And there s no better way to get some lowimpact exercise while enjoying nature than by starting a walking program. Whether it s just you and some friends or a larger organized group of walkers walking has some great benefits. Walking and being in nature are great mood-boosters. The more steps people take in a day, the better their moods are, since walking releases mood-boosting endorphins. Plus, being in nature can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, while also improving sleep and creativity. Walking helps the heart. It improves circulation, decreases your chance of heart disease and lowers blood pressure. It s also good for your joints and muscles. Walking helps lubricate joints, while also getting oxygen to the area. It also helps tone your leg and Karen Wellness Director abdominal muscles. Walking helps with weight loss. A 30- minute walk can burn about 200 calories. A Message from Culinary Fresh Spring Produce for a Healthy Diet Now that it s finally spring, we can start enjoying all the great produce that ripens this time of year. Here are a few of my favorite spring fruits and vegetables to pick up. Artichokes. Although difficult to prepare (steaming them is a good option), artichokes offer plenty of fiber, as well as being high in vitamin C. They re also one of the best sources of antioxidants. Apricots. This nutrient-packed fruit is low in calories, high in vitamin C and carries plenty of vitamin A, which helps improve vision and skin health, while also boosting the immune system. Spinach. This leafy green is a real superfood, providing vitamins A, C, E, K and B6, as well as antioxidants, calcium, iron, potassium and more. Pineapple. Although not locally grown, pineapples are a great springtime choice. Julia Niesen Culinary Director They can help reduce joint and muscle inflammation meaning they re great for those with arthritis. Our Quality Promise to You Our quality promise starts with commitment. Aspire Senior Living is committed to listening to YOU. Got an idea? A suggestion? We want to hear it. Quality matters so we appreciate your ideas and input. Whether you are an employee, a resident, a family member or a visitor, let us know. us at: quality@heritageal.com
