Congratulations to VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER MICHAEL HARRIS for winning the volunteer prize pack for July! The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will take place on October 8, This is a reminder that in order to receive a formal invite, you must have completed a minimum of 72 hours of volunteering for the season by September 30, For your most up to date hours, check the Review Tickets/Hours tab in the online Volunteer Room TICKET REQUESTS Don Smith June Winner! 2 Tickets for the can be requested beginning 10/1/2018. Any unused tickets will expire 0n 9/30/2017.

3 BIRTHDATE UPCOMING TRAININGS We will be reaching out to everyone throughout the remainder of the Summer to obtain your birthdates. We need this information for the grant that we received. We will also be using this info to help celebrate you next season (without the year). If you would like to be excluded from the recognition, please let us know. Please be aware that the discount changes daily Seasoned Usher Trainings: New Volunteer Orientation: Saturday, August 6, 2018 Our next New Volunteer Orientation will take place on 8/6/2018 from 6p 10p. Please spread the word to family or friends who may be interested. Remember, anyone that you recommend successfully completes the 60 day trial period earns you extra bonus hours! Several advanced usher trainings will be conducted over the summer. They are in-depth 4 hour classes conducted by the house managers that covers not only seating, but safety measures, customer service and much more. Once completed, ushers will be eligible to receive scheduling earlier for the season. This training is open to volunteers who currently have had the Usher status for at least 6 months. If you are a trainee wishing to advance please take a look at the usher trainings above. If interested, please register online. Wednesday July 25, p 10p Wednesday August 1, p 10p Friday August 17, 2018 CANCELLED CLUBHOUSE SPRUCE UP NAME TAGS Please remember to place your name tags back on the white board or refrigerator prior to leaving when your shift ends. Some volunteers share the same name so it is missing when they come in for their shift. They also prevents you from leaving it at home for your shift. Thank you in advance for your cooperation! Have you seen the clubhouse lately? If not, you will see that it has been re-organized and has a lot more room. The next time you see Michael, give him a big high-five and a huge thank you for rearranging everything to create more space! Michael you rock! 3

4 . VISION STATEMENT VOLUNTEER SEASON PREVIEW Remember, you can try as many times as you like. The only caveat is it must be word for word correct to receive the 5 incentive hours. I would like to capture video of our volunteers reciting the vision to share with the staff and as a gift to John Richard, our CEO before he retires in December. This is a reminder of the additional group challenge! 1.The group must be a minimum of 5 people. 2.If the group can say the vision in unison, everyone will receive the same 5 hours, but in addition, the entire group will receive one extra incentive hour for the number of people in the group. Example: Group of 5 says it correctly. Everyone receives a base of 5 points Since 5 people were in the group, 5 extra hours are earned. Total incentive hours awarded is 10 hours Gather your friends and lets earn some hours! Sunday, August 26th 11a 2p Announcing our annual Volunteer Symposium! This event has been put together to help prepare the Volunteer team for the exciting upcoming season! This event will be taking place also to help prepare everyone for our 4th annual ArtsLaunch event. See the tentative schedule below (you will receive hours for attending): 11a 12p season presentation by Programming 12p 1p Volunteer Photo Shoot (pics in both uniforms) 1p 2p Lunch 2p 3p ArtsLaunch Tour Guide training (optional) Season Overview: Programming will be presenting an overview of the upcoming season to the entire volunteer team. You will not want to miss this! You will have an opportunity to get an in depth look as well as ask questions about the upcoming season. Volunteer Photo Shoot: We have hired a professional photographer for the day to capture new group photos. The photographer will be taking group pictures in the ZBOH/CST and KCH in both the usher uniform as well as the Red Shirt Uniform. Docent Training: If you are interested in helping to lead an abridged tour, or help assist the Artslaunch tours, we will have a brief training after lunch. Please register online so that we know how many people to prepare for. See you there! 4

5 GOODBYE ESTHER ALICE FAREWELL You Will Be Missed! First, the news flash----i'm moving to Israel, approx. July 1st! Closer to lots of family. The rest are in PA & after 25+ years in the sunshine & never-freezing temperatures, my body said "No!" This was not an easy or hasty decision but I think a good one - at least, that's the consensus of most family & friends. At the top of my list for what I'll miss most in Miami is my affiliation with the Arsht. It has been the joy of my last few years here to have the opportunity to be immersed in so much culture & surrounded by an equally entertaining group of volunteers & staff. I began my adult working years in the theatre and it seems appropriate to close out my active civic life in the theatre, as well. I will miss all of you and my time here a great deal! Thanks again to you and all of the staff for the support & fun & goodies you have doled out over the years! I will miss all of you terribly. As many of you have already heard I am transitioning from my current position as Theater Manager to a more flexible schedule. This is by choice and will be effective in early July. That having been said, I do want you to know just how much I value the relationship we have built over 12 incredible seasons. Your warmth, affection and generosity of spirit are gifts beyond measure. I cherish your friendship and support and to say that you have been the wind beneath my wings is certainly not an exaggeration. Your kindness has never been taken for granted, yet words of appreciation seen inadequate. Over the years we have become a beautiful, diverse family. The family will continue to grow, be stronger and endure change. Thank you for so many memories; for simple joys and shared laughter. Very best always, Alice Esther 5

6 FROM THE SUGGESTION BOX BACK TO SCHOOL TIME! Vice Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson invites you to take part as volunteer in her 12 th Annual Back to School Fun Day Book Bag Giveaway and Health Fair. They are looking for highly motivated volunteers to assist us in our effort to giveaway over 2,000 book-bags, provide health screenings and so much more to children and families in need as they prepare for back to school throughout Miami-Dade County. Please note that this is not an Arsht event and you will not receive Arsht Center hours for it. Your are helping to make our program stronger everyday! Here are a few that we were able to accommodate. Thank you for the great ideas! SUGGESTION: Add a rubber mat to the ALD stand SOLUTION: Two new mats were purchased for the ALD stands to make it easier on the feet and the back SUGGESTION: Add boxes of tissues to the clubhouses SOLUTION: You should start to see boxes of tissue in the clubhouses soon. Event Set-up SUGGESTION: Add mirrors to the clubhouse SOLUTION: One additional mirror was added to each clubhouse SUGGESTION: Add hand sanitizer to the clubhouses SOLUTION: One industrial sized hand sanitizer bottle to added to each clubhouse Week of July 30- August 3 rd and August 6- August 10 th 10am- 2pm on the set day(s) from the weeks above. *This is a great opportunity for students.
