Chairs welcome Debbie Larner, Head of Practice, CIH Tenancy fraud and data sharing what you need to know Fleur Priest Stephens, Specialist Advisor, CIH Sharing data can be a useful tool in detecting tenancy fraud. However, in some cases, concerns about the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) prevent organisations from making the best use of the information available to them. 4 Debbie Larner, Head of Practice, CIH How safe is your data? Debbie has worked in the housing profession for over 20 years. Her career spans both the housing association and local authority sectors. Debbie has worked at the CIH since 1999 in a range of roles relating to the development and delivery of national policy and practice. Debbie is now Head of Practice at CIH which is an exciting role responsible for both influencing the shape of practice across the sector and supporting organisations to deliver excellence. Fleur Priest Stephens, Specialist Advisor, CIH Fleur has been a Specialist Advisor with the CIH for the last 3 years. In that time, she has advised over 200 social housing providers on ways to make the best use of the homes they own and manage. Fleur has written numerous good practice guides on a range of topics including tenancy fraud, partnership working, and new types of tenure. Speaker Biographies Paul Edwards, Director of Business Development, HouseMark Paul leads HouseMark s Business Development team. The team has a particular focus on developing data related business opportunities and, in particular, opportunities arising from Big Data. With more than 25 years experience, Paul has previously held senior roles in the housing association and local authority sectors. David Hall, Senior Associate, Anthony Collins David Hall is a Senior Associate solicitor with Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP. He advises landlords, local authorities, adult health and social care providers, not-for-profits and the private sector and leads the law firm s work on IT, telecommunications, data and information management and consumer law. He also advises on financial services regulation. Adrian Leung, Head of Information Security, Catalyst Housing Adrian is presently the Head of Information Security at Catalyst Housing Limited where he is responsible for leading a security transformation programme and scratch building its security capability. He also has responsibility for Data Protection. Adrian has more than 10 years of information security and risk management experience gained through a variety of roles across different industry sectors. He adopts a pragmatic approach to information security and strongly believes it to be a business enabler. Prior to Catalyst, Adrian worked for a Big 4 consultancy where he provided specialist information security advisory and assurance services to his clients. Adrian holds a Ph.D. in Information Security from Royal Holloway and has been acting as a project advisor to students undertaking the MSc in Information Security for the past 8 years. He has contributed to the development of international security standards and his work has appeared in journals, books, magazines and conference proceedings. Annie Bromwich-Alexandra, Governance Support, Isos Housing Annie has worked for Isos since the Group was established in August 2005, moving from one of the original housing companies. With a background in governance in social housing and local / regional government, she is now Governance Support for Isos and their designated Data Protection Officer.
