And that the tissue was processed in a way that did not compromise its functionality. The unfortunate fact is, those things are true only some of the time. Although there are national standards and protocols for tissue banks, they only set a baseline for the industry. Beyond that, regulations leave a lot to interpretation, so standards vary significantly from bank to bank. Add to that problems with supply and inventory for many banks, and things get even more complex. There s only one tissue bank where you will, without question, get the most clinically sound, safe allografts processed from the most carefully selected donors, every single time. 44 44 igament Reconstruction How we measure our soft tissue allografts: At MTF, we take precise care in accurately capturing and recording all dimensions and aspects of our allograft tendons. To capture a folded diameter, we place a suture on top of the tendon mid-way down its length, then fold it in half over the suture. (See figure 1.) Using minimal force, we advance the front part of the tendon (nearest to the suture) into sequentially smaller diameter holes until the tendon is visible from the hole. (See figure 2.) Figure 1.
