23 About Maui Maui School of Therapeutic Massage is located on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The natural beauty here is considered by many to have a nurturing influence on those who experience it. The warm ocean, gentle climate and lush tropical beauty encourage deep relaxation and exploration of the healing process. The school is located in the "Upcountry" area of Maui, in the small town of Makawao, about 1500 feet above sea level. The views are spectacular and the weather is mild year-round, tending to be a bit cooler and wetter than other parts of the island, which makes the summer months cooler and greener. Makawao town is a unique blend of artist, Hawaiian Cowboy and alternative lifestyles. The school is within walking distance of town so you have easy access to restaurants, the post office, a health food store, and the public library. Many students find work and housing right in Makawao. You can expect to spend $550-$1250 for a room in a shared house, and $900-$1800 for a studio or one-bedroom apartment. Students sometimes room together, and our bulletin board at the school is often a source of leads for housing and other opportunities in the area. Massage therapy is said to be one of the fastest growing health care professions in the country, and is very popular here with residents and tourists alike. Many of our graduates start their own private practices, while others find employment in chiropractor's offices, medical offices, hotels, spas or even cruise ships. 23

24 Testimonials I am forever grateful to MSTM and its entire staff for the incredible training that I received. I had homeschooled my three children, was recently remarried and was looking for a new direction in terms of fulfilling employment. What I found at MSTM was not just job training, it was a new passion. I have always had a deep desire to help others. Becoming a massage therapist offered me that opportunity to serve others in a tangible way as well as the means to financially support myself. I could not have asked for anything more from my time at MSTM. It has set me up for success, unlike I could have even hoped for. Thank you!! Darla Horner As the manager of a large and prestigious spa in Hawaii, I have hired hundreds of Licensed Massage Therapists over the years. I strongly prefer to hire graduates of MSTM over other schools because of their superior training and considerable clinical experience. As a general rule, your graduates are simply more effective. Christine A. The education in bodywork that I received at Maui School of Therapeutic Massage exceeded my wildest expectations! From the wide array of massage modalities in which you are trained, to amazing guest teachers, to Qi Gong and breath work, the opportunities to learn are many, and Maui just happens to be one of the most gorgeous, healing places on the planet! The instructors and administrators are highly experienced, excellent people who care about what they do. The curriculum is robust and thorough, and coupled with the Student Clinic experience, provides students with the opportunity to build a solid foundation on which they can build a rewarding career in bodywork! Thank you, Maui School of Therapeutic Massage! Tom Ross The best thing I did after arriving on Maui was to take the massage therapy course at MSTM. It has fulfilled so many of my dreams. The program is the best organized and well-rounded of any I know. All classes are taught by excellent teachers who have many years of experience and who care about the long-term success of their students. Now I work at a resort, and we have clients ask for all the techniques we were taught in class. They even ask for specific treatments for every condition that I learned to treat. The therapists from other schools don t have the broad training and clinical experience to handle the variety of requests. Bob Coombs, LMT The Maui School of Therapeutic Massage provided me with a powerful foundation to grow more aware of how the body works. The mix of lectures and hands-on application allows you to fully understand what you need to do to become a massage therapist. I am a professional dancer, but the training has proven so useful in keeping my body and students healthy and exploring dance movement. The staff is filled with knowledge, and you leave class feeling inspired and filled with new insight. The Maui School of Therapeutic Massage transformed my life, simply put. Aaron Pardini I m so grateful for your commitment to quality and dedication to a well-rounded and thorough massage curriculum. I now work at a 5-star resort, earning an income that supports me with such abundance! I'm learning more every day about myself and my clients, and the healing effects of human touch.
