It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 19th congress of the Section of Epidemiology and Social Psychiatry of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) in Vienna, Austria, April 4-7, Psychiatric epidemiology is the basis for getting knowledge on disease burden and etiology, prevention, mental health service and treatment planning. The congress welcomes a broad range of topics of social psychiatry and the epidemiology of mental health. Social psychiatry is focusing on the social causes and consequences of mental disorders as well as social networks of patients as well as service planning. Psychiatric epidemiology covers a broad range of topics including both basic and applied research. The program will include plenary lectures, parallel sessions and debates. The program will cover some of the most recent studies, methods and ideas, and reviews of present knowledge. There will also be debates on topics of current controversy. Vienna has a sound tradition of social psychiatry research including psychiatric epidemiology. The city of Vienna is a busy tourist destination, offering a variety of culture and history. Vienna has an international airport with direct flights to more than 200 international destinations all over the world. Our section is one of the most active ones in EPA, with attendees from all over Europe and from other continents. The conference is known for attracting researchers at all levels in their career, and for its friendly atmosphere. We are looking forward meeting colleagues from all professions involved in this kind of research and clinical work, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing specialists, health economists, sociologists and other social sciences. The auditorium center (Hörsaalzentrum) is located on the 7th and 8th floor. To get to the venue, you can use the underground line U6 or tram line 42 to stop Michelbeuern - Allgemeines Krankenhaus, tramways 5 or 33 (stop "Lazarettgasse") as well as the tramways 43 or 44 (stop "Alser Straße"). 4

7 GENERAL INFORMATION LANGUAGE The official language of the Congress is English (no translation will be provided). HOMEPAGE Information about the Congress will be continuously updated on the home page CAT (City Airport Train) The CAT operates between Vienna International Airport and City Air Terminal (Wien-Mitte train station) situated in the heart of Vienna. Please visit our webpage for timetables. Single Ticket: Euro 11. Please visit for timetables. CLIMATE The weather in Vienna at this time of the year is usually nice but showers can occur. MEALS Coffee and lunches are included in the registration fee and will be served daily. Your name badge is your ticket. INSURANCE, LIABILITY Neither the organisers nor Austropa Interconvention can be held responsible for any personal injury, loss, damage, accident to private property or additional expenses incurred as a result of delays or changes in air, rail, sea, road or other services, strikes, sickness, weather, acts of terrorism and any other cause. All participants are encouraged to make their own arrangements for health and travel insurance. WELCOME RECEPTION April 5,2018 at 7 pm (Included in the registration fee) SOCIAL PROGRAMME The welcome reception will be in the Vienna City Hall ( Rathaus ) hosted by the Major of the City of Vienna. It is located in the centre of Vienna (1082 Vienna, Friedrich-Schmidt-Platz 1, close to Ringstrasse). Constructed from 1872 to 1883 in a Neo-Gothic style, it houses the office of the Mayor of Vienna as well as the chamber of the city council. All delegates and accompanying persons are invited to attend the Reception. A light meal will be served. Free of charge. Since 1870 the Grand Hotel Wien has been famous the world over for its exquisite hospitality and luxury. One of the finest luxury hotels in Vienna, the Grand always guarantees an experience to remember. The Grand Hotel Wien is located in the centre of Vienna at the famous Ringstrasse, close to Staatsoper (1010 Vienna, Kaerntner Ring 9). It is a 3 minutes walk from to underground station Karlsplatz (underground lines U1, U2 and U4). You will enjoy an evening with a dinner with local specialities.
